• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Prepar3D Use

Gerry, thanks for the clarification. I think it matches with what most of us have been saying all the time, Prepar3D is meant for non-entertainment use.

But this is a forum for developers, not for users. So as developers we are still free to make addons for Prepar3D as well and discuss that here. I think most of us will agree that making addons is not entertainment :).

Note to everybody else, just take the information provided here into consideration when you are making up your mind about future platforms. Do not turn this thread into wild speculations again. Thanks.

Personally I do not think this thread needs comment ;)

I am not criticising anyone.

However, the other forums it has been assumed that P3D can be a replacement for FSX and could develop in the same way. That to me seems a risky assumption at present.

I would agree with that.

From a developer point of view ... if you are planning on a large market then it would seem prudent to be cautious.

From a completely practical point of view ... developing for FSX with a view to converting to P3d in the future seems like a very low risk venture.

Good that we're all in agreement!

I moved this to the proper sub-forum. I am also locking this thread, as it is not a concern of FSDeveloper.

Issues with "terms of use" for Prepare3D should be directed to Lockheed-Martin, not to FSDeveloper or it's members. Please contact them with your problem. If necessary, consult a lawyer. This also applies to EULAs, copyrights, and any other legal matter concerning either Lockheed-Martin or Microsoft.

Take your issues up with them.

Dick
