Problem With Stock Airport

Having a devil of a time with KLAX in FSX. There are two buildings that I don't want, they are in the way of the recently built Tom Bradley Terminal 2. After hours of frustration, I finally found them in the FSX KLAX stock airport folder. Using the power of ADE, I deleted those two buildings from the stock file and had ADE save the file back in the FSX stock airport folder. Now FSX doesn't recognize KLAX if I attempt to use it as my starting airport! I even tried removing the AD4 extension in the KLAX stock airport file - still no KLAX.

My question is how can I get ADE to save the modified stock airport file (without the buildings) back in the stock airport file and have FSX recognize KLAX? Because now, when I select KLAX as my starting airport, FSX can't find it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You don't. Never edit or modify stock file. You can delete a whole raft of airports at one go it you do that

It seems you don't understand how ADE works. First I hope you made a backup of the stock file you. Restore it replacing the stock file so you can again open the stock airport

AD4 are project files - they are not understood by the sim and are not compiled So

in ADE use File > Open Stock Airport and thus load KLAX into ADE. Us File Save to save the .AD4 project file.

Now make your changes and save again. Now use File > Compile Airport to create your revised bgl file. DO NOT replace the stock airport file with this new compiled file but save the new compiled file to an active scenery folder in FSX.

Restart the sim and check for changes to KLAX

Thanks, Scruffy for your reply!

I did not delete the stock airport, I simply changed the files extension from .bgl to .BAK, then made sure the KLAX file was active. KLAX showed up in FSX, but the phantom buildings were still there.

Will try your method but am about, (after 20 years of FS2002, FS9 and FSX) to go to MSFS and see what issues it brings. From the forums, I see there are a few.

BTW - certainly love the power of your ADE!!!
