• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FSX Prop Merge Failure

Hi,

Someone sent me a plane converted from FS9 and he is trying to merge a separate prop part into the plane. When we use the Merge command in MCX there is no error message, but no prop is added to the model.

I have attached a fragment of the plane and the prop part to be merged. Load the plane MDL, and then Merge the prop part. Nothing is added.

Anything we can do?

Thanks,

I thought it might have something to do with the Bones, but the prop still does not Merge if they are Removed from the model.

Check the lod on both the prop and the aircraft are the same. I've had this in the past where the lods were different and the merged part wouldn't show up.

Hi Tom,

When I merge the prop model into the other one I do see it, but only in the LOD 100. I would have to double check the code, but in the merge tool you can specify which LOD it should be merged into. So it takes the highest LOD from the merge model and inserts that in the LOD you specify. Could that be part of the issue?

Doesn't work for me, but I'll just chalk it up to one of those things.

That's weird, let me think if some setting might influence this.

I have been using the stable release. I then tried downloading the latest development release (into a separate folder) and then the prop does add OK. But I got the "Before we start MCX you must agree to the following conditions" suggesting that it was not reading my existing installation, so the settings may indeed be different than my normal ones.

If you install into a new folder you will always get the license form and you will also start with the default settings indeed. Let me check with the stable release to see if that one works for me.

Edit: it works in the stable release on my machine as well, so most likely it's some setting.
