• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA removing objects from file

Let’s say I have 5 items in a bgl I just opened with MCX. Let’s say I want to get rid of #3. Can I do so and export the rest of the items, having the same file name but minus the #3 I deleted?

I opened a bgl with numerous items. It does not show up as a library but just it’s own bgl (true- libraries are bgls <G>)

There are a few items in this bgl which I do not want to show anymore. If I get rid of this file .... many things disappear. Obviously KI want to keep this file but without the said items.

I noticed in the export button there is a choice to export all to fsx bgl instead of mdl. So..... Am I assuming I can get rid of one or two items then export what is left as a bgl to fsx?

That would solve things.

IF NOT- then I would have to export each item I wanted... make my own library..... Install, delete the bgl (original) ... and use my library to place the objects back into the scenery in the appropriate places. Bob

Is this library something you have created, or something you downloaded? If the latter, it's best not to remove objects - they may be used somewhere that you don't expect. They don't cause any problems just sitting there, and it's much safer than removing them. Anyway, you can't release the edited library BGL anyway, without the authors permission (and even then it's not a good idea unless you change the GUID values of ALL the objects - this avoids duplicate objects with the same GUID's - you would never really know which copy FS is loading).

Hope this helps,

You could delete his Guid from the decompiled xml file, or decompile in Mdls and delete those to get rid of, and compile again.

Tom- thanx for the reply. Yeah I kind of figured I'd have to go the route of making another library. This was drug in from FS9. Nicely done scenery, but now in FSX there's a small hangar out in the middle of a default road.

Airfield is placed nicely. The default road is different that in FS9. I'd rather not move the road so I wanted to dump the hanger or move it.

Absolutely no way to move this hangar.... not with IS@, ADE, or AFX. excludes don't work either. Older style bgl so I can't disassemble it and fuss with it that way either.

This object is in a file with 113 other objects. What was this compiled with.... Rwy12 or airport for windows?

MCX does open this bgl. So I guess the way to do this is 1. look at all the objects, take a shot of the area, 2. pick out all objects I want from this file, 3. make new library of my own with these, 4. dump the other file or keep it and use my new library to place objects where I see the old one, minus the hangar, then dump the old file, and hope I didn't miss anything! :) Bob

BglAnalize could do, there are at least three versions, one is for older version of Flight simulator, I think I get dessasembled old scam files. but you have to get the older version of BglAnalize, good luck

older ones I have are bgl180 and bgl2xml. Just making a new library. Seems to be working fine.
