• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi there!

I'm currently working on updating SABA to a fictional version, with ramps and such, and I need to clear the trees before the RW30 threshold.

How do I do that?

I've seen a thread before, but it was all very complicated, and provided a number of solutions, using some stuff I don't have.

I just need a quick, easy guide, and know what I need.

You need to use an Airport Background polygon. You can make these with ADE. The details are in the Release Notes for version 1.37. Use the polygon tool to draw an airport background polygon around the new area and tag it to exclude autogen. You also need to make sure that it has exactly the same altitude as the airport to avoid level changes. The alternative is to exclude the whole original airport background and create a new one for the whole airport including your new area but this is more complicated.
 
I'm having some trouble, it's not working.

It seems the area isn't selected in the .bgl, when I compile it.

What could be the problem?

EDIT: Ah, NVM, tried including the CVX.bgl ile that was compiled along with the other .bgl file, works like a charm.

Correct - terrain elements are compiled using a differnt complier than the airport and therefore need to be in a separate bgl file :)
