• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 RESOLVED - Read/Write folder attributes

I try to research and exhaust all of my options before I post questions here, so bear with me. I am getting an 'Error: 1' when I try to build a project. I am wondering if this is due to not being able to turn 'Read Only' off for my folders in Windows 10? I initially couldn't even create a project, but read here about turning off 'Read only' for ADE.exe and I was able to proceed with creating my file. My main problem is turning off 'Read Only' for my folders, as the individual files are unaffected. Hopefully someone has had this issue and can shed some light on it for me. NOTE: I have already tried to give permissions in the security tab, I am the administrator, etc...

Where are you placing the ADE projects? in a UAC folder? or is this placement of projects in the community folder?

I save my project in the F20 folder (where is suggests), then copy the project to the Community folder. I have done this with previous versions of ADE without issue. The only changes to the stock airport were removing Aprons, a few parking spots, and eliminated faults such as orphan nodes, etc. Basically, just enough to test in MSFS, with no luck. I have attached my Build Project log.

project XML: I:\ADE_2020_Alpha_18\F20\KMLB\KMLB.xml
temp dir: I:\ADE_2020_Alpha_18\F20\KMLB\_PackageInt

well it looks like you put the project in an unusual folder but there is no problem with the build log. When you say no luck what do you mean.?

No luck = my changes in ADE are not reflected in MSFS despite the error code. I believe the 'unknown Command AddVFSPath' has no bearing on anything, from what I've read here. I have also changed my Build Folder location and continue to get the same error. Note: I have also tried editing a much smaller airport with the same error code.

are you copying the built package to your MSFS Community folder? Not the whole project, just the content of the packages folder??

I figured it out. I didn't update my SDK. I was under the assumption that the SDK was automatically updated with every update of MSFS. Another lesson learned!
