• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Roads ( SOLVED )

Hi,

Inspired by this whole discussion, I have just added some extra warnings to scenProc. They will be part of the next development release. If you create AGN objects, but don't have an ExportAGN step to save them or the other way around you will get a warning to let you know something is not logical. Same when creating AF2 or XML objects.

Thanks Arno, it'll save you a lot of time preventing numbnuts like me from not spotting the obvious :)

I know scenproc can be hard to use, as it is so flexible. So any help I can give the user is useful.

Hi Arno, thought I'd reply here again to avoid clogging up Matthius's showroom thread any further. Sceneproc is working well and compiling everything as expected, but nothing shows on my scenery. I'm troubleshooting away, trying different things, but nothing's working. As an experiment, I compiled my street lights as AGN just to see if they would show up in the annotator, and they did - every street on the scenery perfectly placed. I didn't expect to see them in the sim necessarily because they're actually library objects, but I just wanted to see if things were being laid out.

I then tried hand-placing a few trees and autogen buildings in the annotator on the same scenery, just to see if they would show up. They did not. This has not happened before. I've covered huge regions of photo-scenery with vegetation and houses etc before, and never had an issue. Photo-real does block default autogen, but one should be able to place over it in the normal manner, right? Has this ever happened before to you, or anybody else using this method?

I did also run my script, using default ag_lightpole. In FSX, they all showed up ( all 107,000 of them, at about 3fps! ) but in P3D they did not. Using my own 3D lights, neither sim showed them. FSX on my rig is default, but I have ORBX OC, LC, lights etc all running in P3D - could ORBX's vector stuff possibly block the annotator in some way?

I hope there's a simple answer to all this ( most usually there is, and it's my fault :) ). I'll have a run through the annotator / autogen forum to see what's there.

Did you check the obvious, the autogen density slider in the sim?

:) Maxed out. Nothing's popping in the other forums except drawcall batching ( true in this case ) - the scenery is at altitude though so maybe I could try switching that off.

@arno Okay, with help from @RED COOL I was able to produce the effect I need, many thanks Arno. The trick was to create a dedicated scenery folder and run the process into there, then add that scenery to the sim. Streelights everywhere! Thanks again for your help and your patience with my efforts to understand how to solve yet another problem :)
