• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SceneGenX FSX Compile Error

Can anyone explain what I need to do to stop getting the following error when trying to compile a .bgl for FSX:

ERROR: 25, 18, The attribute 'trafficScalar' on this element is not defined in the DTD/Schema.

ERROR C2309: airportTestRadius is NOT a valid token!
ERROR C2028: Invalid attribute! (airportTestRadius)
ERROR C2472: Invalid attribute!

Compiling to FS2004 BGLComp works fine, but nothing I try will compile to FSX.

I have the Deluxe version of FSX and the SDK is installed.

That looks like you are using the FS9 compiler instead of the FSX compiler. Go to the menu Options and then Compile time options and make sure you are correctly set for FSX and have selected the correct active configuration. Compare the Displayed configuration as well as the active configuration to ensure the file directories are correct.

I agree with Graham. Airport Test Radius is something that the FAX compiler will recognize but the FS9 one will not

Missing BGL

Got that thanks, I'm now able to compile. Only problem now is that the .bgl files are not being saved to the directory I specified as the default BGL path, or the directory (FSX Addon Scenery) specified in the compile synopsis. Any ideas?:)

I hate to be this much of a pain but from what I have been able to do so far makes me think it's worth the effort, sorry if I'm an annoying little tick.

I am not that familiar with SceneGenX - can you post a screenshot of the folder settings tab or dialog?

Screen Shots

I've attached screen shots of my compile time configuration as well as the BGL compile configuration. As you can see the BGL destination folder differs and after compile is in neither of these locations.

Have you checked the folders that SGX is telling you the Bgl is placed in to see if it is there?

Checked and missing

Yes I have. I checked both locations and the SGX folder, all devoid of my BGL.

What I'll do now is un-install everything, scrap my .XML and .BGL files and start anew.

At least then I'll have a clean install to work from.

Scruffyduck, as someone I respect as an expert, I would value your advice as to the best app. to use for FSX airport design which can utilize the objects within the FSX object libraries.

What I want to achieve is a number of small, individual airstrips, on each continent.

Someone with more knowledge on SGX may come forward to help

In the meantime I do not think there is a single tool at the moment that would do everything. For object placement there are several as there are for airport design.

for those who are happy to pay for their software the Flight1 combination of Instant Scenery and AFX would be worth checking.

For freeware object placement you might want to look at Whisplacer - there are posts here about that tool and it is available from ScneryDesign.org and AVSIM (I think). FSXP (mentioned below) does have some object placement capabilities (I believe) which might be enough for your needs.

For freeware Airport Design. That is modifying or creating airport facilities such as runways, parking and so on then there is FSX Planner and Airport Design Editor. FSXP has it's own forum here. Airport Design Editor has it's own web site www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk. The current public release for that tool is less well developed than FSXP (I am the developer for ADE) but a new more complete version should be available by the end of this month. Each tool has some differences strengths and weaknesses so it is a good idea to see what fits your style and needs best.

Hmmmm

It appears as though directory parameters cannot be changed until a new file is created at which time the new file adopts the new parameters. So the new file I am working on is now saved where it should be. Although this doesn't really explain what happened to my last file I take it as part of the learning experience.

All I need to do now is get SCASM to work to flatten an area.

Hey Ho!

UKJack

Can I ask why you are trying to use SCASM to flatten FSX?

I am finding that SCAAM is becoming less and less bacward compatible with each new update for FSX (SP2).

I do use a limited amount of SCASM to trick FSX but the SP2 is now casuing more probelms with the trickery techniques (see my other post in your thread).
