• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SceneGenX SCASM problem

And yet another one, sorry!

Managed to solve my earlier problems thanks to Jon, but have come across another.

I want to flatten an area around my strip but when I come to compile with the flatten area included I get the following error:

Shelled Process General Error: 0

and then;

SCASM general compilation error : check SCASM.EXE is in same Directory as BGLComp path

I have checked and it is. I have even tried a manual run of SCASM and have been able to create a .BGL from the .SCA file generated so SCASM itself is not the problem.

If anyone knows how to cure this problem, or a workaround to include the data in either the .SCA file or resultant .BGL I would be grateful.

Okay, after an evening of thought, trial and error:

When SceneGenX is installed the SCASM.exe is installed in the BGLComp folder, which I assume works fine for FS9.

The above error message made me assume that SCASM should be installed in the same folder as the FSX BGLComp files.

However reading the error message shows that SGX is looking for SCASM in the main SGX folder, and moving it there works a treat.

Hope this helps someone else in the future.:D

I have noticed with the new FSX/SP2 that SCASM bgl code is causing a problem at airports.

I have a few airports that I overlayed a SCASM build runway onto the orinal XML runway. Up until SP2 a few days ago everything worked fine. After installing the Accel Pack/SP2 I have a problem (glad I did not upload yet).

When I start FSX and "Go To" that airport the FPS which are locked at 20 immediatly start dropping within a few seconds and drop all he way down to 2.6. If I remove just the SCASM coded runway from my scenery folder the FPS stay at 20.

I am trying to find a work around for this behavior.

If you are working with FSX then it might be preferable to use a flatten based on Shp2Vec rather than SCASM (which is now a very old way of doing things). Although it means either doing this by hand or using a tool such as FSX KML or SBuilderX
