• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

scenProc user interface?

Hi all,

While writing my tutorial about using scenProc and OpenStreetMap data I was thinking that some sort of graphical user interface would be useful. So let me write down my ideas here:

  • Kind of like a text editor, to edit the configuration file
  • With some easy button to directly start scenProc with the loaded file
  • With a function to help you search the right GUID from the autogen SDK XML files
  • With some function to help you construct the filters, based on the attributes available in the shapefiles

Let me know if you think this is a good idea and if you have other suggestions.

I expect the answer to be YES, but I am not sure if I have the time soon to make it. I first want to improve the creation of the autogen buildings more :).

I think your idea is so good.
I think most of the people have difficulty with the command lines.

Who doesn't like having more options? While a command line interface works (and has its advantages), a GUI is definitely welcome. :)

Hi,

This user interface is just an idea at the moment. I haven't started coding anything and given my priorities I don't expect to start very soon with it.

The autofill for GUID doesn't work for me. The paths to the SDK files/folders are correct.

Hi,

Just a double check, you set the folder to the Autogen SDK in the options (not to the main SDK)? It should then find the correct XML files for you.

You have to click on a file in the autogen directory when setting up the paths for it to fully grab the directory path otherwise it ends up one directory lower

I'll double check if I can make that more user friendly.

Thanks Arno for pushing the GUI of ScenProc, I dream that it will become one day like QGis U.I with visual layers of vectors and visual editing etc etc :)

Cheers

Hi,

I might add some more preview of the data in the future, but I am not planning to make it a manual editor to draw autogen. We can use annotator for that already :)

Send from my phone using Tapatalk, so excuse the short sentences and possible typos

:D

Only a crazy idea ... you could have a preview of the images of both the building or vegetation when choosing the guid ?
So as you can see the choice would be possible to see the image?
sometimes it becomes difficult to guess the right type for the area that you're doing would be a nice convenience ... I think.

Just an idea maybe in the future .....

Antonio.

Hi,

That is a nice idea actually. I would have to check if it is possible to implement that. And of course I need to find the right images as well :).

Hi,

But you know that the autogen classes you assign in scenProc are not the same as the objects in the autogen.bgl file. In one autogen object class there can actually be multiple library objects.

Yes that what I meant, a way to identify those autogen classes, for autogen library objects we can use the above link. But of course it's a little crazy to have a browser for this (so many objects), but would be great, we would have a full control of what is annotated in the autogen files.

:)

Well so is too much ... I was content only of the types:
terrain Autogen class which are about 128 I think,
and are the same as that currently appear in the form of write scenproc ....
in the link posted above are about 1200 and there are also guid seasons, proportions ... way too much for large areas where scenproc does its job.
For how efficiently or specificity prefer to add annotator with the individual trees.

Antonio.
