• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

The more I think about a Seasonal Tool, the more I like the idea. I would love to use this as you can add the "grotty" look in the winter.. "bright" look in the summer etc.

You know me... I get stressed editing manually... so I would love a tool to do the following: (Even on already modded - tweaked mdls) :)

  • Export the MDL from GMAX
  • Open this new tool
  • Select the MDL to edit
  • Select the bitmap from a file selection list for each season (or even only some seasons)
  • Click a button
  • Have a new MDL that references those bitmaps that were selected

Hi!
I have just read your small tutorial but there are some things that I do not understand.
My object has following textures: ground1.bmp, ground2.bmp, ground3.bmp.
I would like to tweak my mdl to make those textures visible only during the spring, summer and fall but during the winter I would like to have following textures: ground1wi.bmp, ground2wi.bmp...
My problem is that I can not find those new textures in tweaker 2 texture list.
Do I need to make new material for them or there is some other method?

I am usind tweaker 2.
Please help me if you know the secret.

Hi,

At the moment you can only add seasonal textures by tweaking the ASM code manual as described on the Wiki. MDL Tweaker II does not yet have a feature to add the seasonal textures for you.

I know this is an old thread, but I would like to show a bit of the progress I have been making lately on MDL Tweaker II. So that you know there is still work being done :D.

In the attached screenshot you see the Texture List editor screen, where you can see all the textures that are present in your MDL file. With the checkboxes you can also add seasonal variants (or remove them again later). That part of the process is already working fine.

What I still need to code is the part that writes the checks to display the correct texture on your object. As you can see I already added some boxes where you can enter the days when the seasons should start. With this information the correct checks will be written to your MDL file. Hopefully I can get this working soon as well, so that I can release a new alpha version :).

Arno,

Can you add Night Textures? The reason I ask is that this is usually the last step for a designer and manually tweaking is a nightmare.

Believe it or not, but just this morning I thought: "I have forgotten the night texture checkbox" :D. So I will add it.
