• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Shoreline exclusions

Question to you Jon:
Is there any chance that we will be able to open a file like 'cvx5216.bgl' (FSX\Scenery\0602\scenery) with ADEX one day?
There are miles of useless shorelines at the adriatic coast. I would like to erase at least some of them.
I already tried with SBuilderX but to be frank I didn' t find the keyhole to opening and work on such files with that tool.

As long as the shorelines are close to an airport I managed to withdraw them. But generally it would be much easier to work directly in the scenery tile.

Thanks!

I don't think Jon has any plans to read CVX files at this point?

I believe you can use ADE to draw terrain polygons over the unwanted shorelines, using a setting that excludes VTP lines (i.e. roads or shorelines). Should work?

Hope this helps,

Thanks Tom!
Jon' s answer was: 'we do not have the file format for CVX files ( ... )' A real pity, I think.

My I idea was that ADEX would open and depict such kind of files.

Thus it would be the perfect tool also to remove useless shorelines (yellow arrows) within seconds and with far less effort than using SBuilderX.

Naturally it is possible to remove shorelines with ADEX already but it would be even easier with one of those 'cvx___.bgl'-files displayed (just as in TmfViewer).

I would love to be able to read and manipulate them in ADE, but it is just not possible. It seems the files are compressed and as such even more difficult to decode.
