• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SimConnect Not Connected??

Greetings, Seems I can't get ADE connected to FSX.
Both buttons are gray'd out but red seems bright.

I've read the post from "Mac" but my issue seems unrelated.
SDK/FSX installed to default locations.

My Path to BglComp:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\BGL Compiler SDK

Path to FSX:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X

BglComp.Exe Version:10.0.61355.0
FSUIP Version:4.20 unregistered

Any assistance you folks can provide is most appreciated.
Thanks,
alb

I just saw this same issue.

Opened FSX.

Opened ADE once FSX had my free flight loaded and plane in location.

I noticed that I could only connect once I had opened the airport in ADE. There was no option to connect (button greyed out, connection indicator red)

As soon as my airport project was open I could connect.

This was due to not having my morning coffee yet!

So, I doubt this is your problem but thought I would throw it out.

Derrick is correct. You need an airport loaded in ADE for the connection button to go active. Should be fine after that.

rfields/dcmiller58/scruffyduck, Thanks vry much.
What a difference when you load an airport.

Question for when someone has time.

If I create a new airport that doesn't exist anymore, what do I do abt adding the ICAO code. I don't think it ever had one to start with. It was a grass strip and planes/hangers but never an ICAO.
Thanks,

You just make one up!

In the US the smaller private strips seem to start with the first letter of the state they are in, like M88 for a grass strip in Missouri.

Larger airports in US start with K, and C in Canada, it seems.

So, I made up a code for a strip in British Columbia called CNSO.

I then went to FSX to see if there was an existing CNSO by entering that code in the search box at the top of the screen. It didn't find one so I knew I was good to go.

I used that code for my little strip and it showed up in the airport lists just fine. In fact, I made up my own fictional city called Northstar Camp because I was creating a network of small fields. The all had the same city so when I search by city I get all of them on the list. Of course, I made up fictional codes for each using the above method.

So, check other airports like yours in your vicinity for a model code, make one up you like, check to see if one is already in FSX. If so, make another one up. If not, use that one.
