• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Sound freeze

Hello,

I searched for solution every where. But no new answers. So, desperately I leave this message here.

I use FSX (+windows 7/64) for 5-6 years now. Now problem. Normal CTD, but nothing serious.

But for 1-2 months now, I've got so "Sound freeze". Image freeze, but sound continues.

Only way to stop it is to CTRL+ ALT+DEL then task manager, then shot down.

I tries every solutions found : inactive AI, less details, nothing change. Every airplane, every where (inclusive where no add-on scenery is installed) freeze the screen between 5-30 minutes.

Except reinstalling (I read that does not solve this issue). Is there a way to isolate the problem ?

It could be a windows update, or Windows Defender is interfering. If you have not added on anything to FSX, you could try a system restore to go back 3 months, and see if that cures it. If you have added on to FSX in the last 3 months, that may be the problem.

To me that sounds like a graphics issue. I would explore video drivers and possible render issues. I understand your belief that reinstalling does not solve "the" issue, but in the absence of an alternative solution, I suggest that conclusion may not be entirely valid. It is possible to reinstall FSX without losing your addons, if you are able to copy your build to another location. Then you can work with a default copy until you isolate the problem, after that you can return your personal files to the active folder.
I am not saying this is a path to a solution, but after trying Dick's suggestion and exploring video drivers, that is what I would do next.

I have this issue since I reinstalled my FSX on a 64 bit PC. Even before moving all the addons.

I'll explore one or other solution. Nice to have new ways to test.

I read on several posts from guys who have the same issue that a reinstall did not solved the problem. That the reason why I would avoir as long as possible this solution, even if, you've right Rick, I would not loose my add-ons.

Yesterday, because Dick mentionned "update", I saw that my Windows 7 did not ask me for update since september! I could unlock this issue and install 130 updates. Today, 2 flights without problem. (the same that yesterday froze). Hope it's ok now. And again...

I'm unclear. Did you install the updates and now FSX works?
FWIW, I always install updates. I know some people have problems.

Till now, yes, updating Windows 7 seams to cure the freeze issue.

But I only flew 4 times, so may be not. To be followed...

I get all the updates regularly but the problem persists on my system.
Maybe there is something buggy on Win64? I never had this on my old Win32 Laptop.

I think it happened to me when playing some third addon never with default addons. I thought it would be the heavy the addon was for the PC.
