• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

OK, first of all, the "Blue Bar" is the Title Bar of the Sketchup application Task Session as it runs in Windows.

Edit your Sketchup 2017 shortcut Properties, and set Compatibility / Security for All users to "Run As Administrator", and launch Sketchup with it.

If that does not change the reported issue, we must test if there are rare coding conflicts which 'can' occur between misc. plugins installed to Sketchup.

With Sketchup not running, ZIP all files / folders in Sketchup 2017 plugins folder into (1) ZIP, then delete all except these 'original' loose files / folders:

\ _jhs01_powerbar.rb (file)

\ JHS (folder)

Then run Sketchup 2017 to test only that (1) Plugin.

If you have further issues with that (1) plugin, let me know.

Hi Gary,

I've tried everything you've posted and it has not resolve the issue. But I do have some information. I got to thinking about this so I thought I would give it a try. I exploded the curve so that I was able to select 1, 2, or 3 segments at a time without selecting all of them. At first, I selected 1 segment and the ramp extruded immediately. So I tried selecting 3 segments and it extruded all 3, but it took a few seconds. Here's a screenshot:

So I tried more segments, and the more I selected, the longer it takes. After selecting about 10 or more segments, it stops responding and takes way too long. I should be able to select all segments and it should extrude all of them in a split second. I hope this will give some idea about what's going on.

That is an intriguing and innovative approach to troubleshooting this scenario. :-)

This is in some ways a modified procedure that might otherwise be compared to one utilized by FollowMe-And-Keep (aka "FAK") which was also temperamental, and could be 'helped' to complete an extrusion guide path along a polyline manually in stages where segmentation occurred on that polyline.

I'll need to think about this, as I refresh my memory regarding that earlier plugin by "wikii" from Sketchup version 8 era (not sure if it runs in 2017 Make):

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-m&q=Sketchup plugin FollowMe-And-Keep#lfId=ChxjMe

https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=FAK

I probably shall test that FollowMe-And-Keep plugin for compatibility in 2017 Make. :scratchch

This discussion thread suggests that "FAK" still works in Sketchup versions since 2017, but may benefit from an extra process of Scaling up- before running it, then Scaling down- after running it:

https://community.sketchucation.com/post/1568001

Reading backwards through that [More Info] discussion thread for FAK, questions are raised as to IMHO 'BS' imposed onto Sketchup some years ago, that attempts to facilitate registration of end user installation info via Sketchucation by prioritizing "signed" versus 'un-signed' plugins that preceded subsequent and more extensive promotion of payware plugins via Sketchucation Plugin Store.

To be clear, one can still run older and otherwise freeware plugins as 'un-signed', but one may need to manually toggle their status to "Enabled" in:

Sketchup Menu > Window > Extension Manager

...to allow such plugins to be run even if they are NOT "signed".

Check the status of JHS Powerbar in your 2017 Extension Manager, to ensure it is "Enabled" to run even if NOT "signed".

Post your numeric version of Sketchup in a reply here or in a Direct Message to me.

Also please state what version of Windows you are running on your computer.

Hi Gary,

By the way, I have Sketchup installed in C:\Sketchup. I try to stay away from Program Files and Program Files(x86). Just want to let you know in case that may be a factor.

The Value for the File version field is 17.2.2555.0.

I am running Windows 10 Pro version 22H2

I have tested both the above cited plugins with (2) different numeric versions of Sketchup 2017, and they work properly in each numeric version.

I shall need to research further why this issue may be occurring on your particular Sketchup 2017 installation. :scratchch

See our current DM thread; my copies of the rb. (and yours ...as attached) did not show a need for a cited 'fix', so I'm not certain it is completely "fixed".

But I'm glad you have it working. :)

Please let us know if you start incurring crashes of Sketchup a few seconds / minutes after running that plugin.
