• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I am sorry that you are having these problems. Can I suggest you try the following for me again.
  • Uninstall ADE completely ensuring that the installation folder is also emptied and deleted
  • Make sure that your number culture is set to one that has a point for the decimal separator
  • Install 1.20. do not run the application
  • Install the 1.37 update
  • Run the application and hopefully the new user wizard will show up.
  • Run the new user wizard to create the databases
  • Close and start ADE again - make sure it all works
  • Change your number culture back to your own

I\ll do that but before I do it I want to show you my ADE Check.
It show that I use Norwegian Language but I dont´t. I have completely removed it. I also have an English version og windows Vista.

I am pleased that it is working at last. For some reason certain country cultures cause more problems than others. Scandinavian countries have been the most common having problems but also French Canadian for some reason that we cannot track down. We have added more safety checks for the next version so lets hope that settles it.

thnx

Yes the program ADE works fine now but there is another problem. I tried to save an airport but was denied I think that must be because I have to run the ADE as an administrator. OK I compiled it another place and copied the BGL file to Addon Scebery/scenery but when I restarted FSX no new Scenery.cfg was build?????? and there was no change

OPPZ the way around was to make another Dir with scenery as sub folder and activate it.....and then it worked. Strangwe thar addon scenery don't work in FSX

On certain computers that has been a problem since day one. We normally see it when FSX is installed to the default Folder Location and the computer uses Vista.

For Vista Users we should always select a Directory if possible off the root folder such as C:\FSX. This keeps parts of FSX out of the ProgramData folder which is a new type Admin folder for Vista which can cause the problem you are having.

I have User Account Control turned off and don't seem to have any folder problems. Everything is installed in default locations. I run 32 bit Home Basic, but I think it is the same for 64 bit Vista. Are people still having problems even with UAC turned of?

Not everyone wants to turn off UAC. Also we get a range of odd problems coming from the way Vista works so our general advice is not to install anything to do with FSX (including FSX itself) in the regular Program Files structure. It reduces one degree of difficulty when trying to trouble shoot this type of problem

Understood. I use such a variety of applications that UAC became a real pain. I am much happier with it off. True, turning it off may not be for everyone.

I also have UAC turned off in Vista 32 which is not a problem for me.

I do however incourage Vista Users NOT to turn off Data Execution Prevention (DEP). That is a command line run using bcdedit.exe and you see Vista Users turn it off also.

If DEP is turned off and FSX has a CTD (BSOD) due to a driver failure such as NVidia while FSX is running the Store Locations become corrupt and FSX will no longer restart. The 1722 error can be fixed with the MicrosoftKB928080 but the Store files are not replaced.

I new install of FSX is the solution only after the registry has been repaired with the 1722 activation error and then cleaned.

I do not have DEP turned off. If it were, is the auto restart the only thing affected? I find the restart to be a pest sometimes if I want to stop an find out what caused the crash, or want to stop playing anyway. I'm not at my FSX computer, but isn't there a restart setting?
