• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Strange AI-Traffic behaviour

Hello Community!

After a long break, I once again started to play with the FSX a little. As I am not so much into flying myself anymore, I decided to create some nice airports and AI-Traffic. I am still working on my little "Congo Project" since I am studying development politics with a focus on that area.

I have re-build and corrected lots of airports and airstrips in the DR Congo with ADE which are totally misplaced in the FSX default version. I actually wanted to add some traffic according to the flighplan of CAA, the leading private-owned airline in the DRC. But I soon discovered that I am not at all able to repaint AI-Planes with that complex livery, so I just created an "own airline" with flightplans that I tried to make as realistic as possible.

So far, I am letting an A321, and A320 and a CRJ900 fly (FAIB and AIG models). I'm oldschool enough to write the flightplans myself like I learned that years ago. I just use AIFP2 to compile them and to get the airports file done correctly.

Interestingly, my AI-Traffic exhibits some really strange behaviour. I want to emphasize that I can see my planes taking-off and landing at correct times. But: They randomly spawn in the air at weird times and even more weird locations. Let me give 2 examples, both taken on the Sunday:

First of all, the flightplans of the CRJ900; Sunday:

6/05:45,@6/07:10,320,F,1201,FZOA,
6/08:10,@6/08:55,330,F,1104,FZNA,
6/09:55,@6/11:30,320,F,1300,FZQA,
6/12:30,@6/14:05,330,F,1301,FZNA,
6/15:05,@6/15:50,320,F,1105,FZOA,
6/16:50,@6/18:30,320,F,1011,FZAA

Secondly, a picture: http://i.imgur.com/hsvHjIq.jpg

As you can see, the CRJ is performing flight ACO1300 from Goma (FZNA) to Lubumbashi (FZQA) - Cities in eastern DRC, more than 1250km away from the capital, Kinshasa. Still, the CRJ appeared in the skies above Kinshasa when I started a flight there. My first idea was: Something is wrong with the Airport file. So I decompiled, checked, and recompiled. The coordinates were correct. What could be causing this? The bgl for FZQA was completely done by me, FZAA too. FZNA is the FSX stock version (I'll rework this one the coming days).

Furthermore you can see flight ACO1002 in the picture, flown by the A321. This flight was supposed to take-off at 09:00 straight - the picture was taken at 10:33 and the Airbus still didn't make it out of the Kinshasa airspace. Why? This problem is not only happening to this flight, but goes the same for the A320 and the CRJ.

After decompiling the traffic files, I noticed that AIFP2 removed the "@" symbol from my flightplans. That could maybe explain something about the 2nd issue?

I'd be glad about some information, thank you!

Okay, I was a little too fast by posting this.

I just re-compiled all my Flightplans with another software, AIFPC. This one seems to include the "@" symbol.

Well, at least my flights are taking-off, landing and even spawning normally. Also the CRJ doesn't randomly appear at Kinshasa.

What I am still wondering; am I theoretically affected by this 37-Minutes-Problem now? Found two sources stating different things:

- Yes, you are, because you are using the @ symbol.
- No, you are not, FSX engine can't even handle the @ symbol.

What is correct?

As I understand it, you normally do not use the @ symbol when using AIFP? It does that automatically? Something like that. I would suggest posting this in the AIFP forum here, if you haven't already.

I'm writing my flightplans by hand. I always use the @ symbol. I use AIFP2 to compile my Flightplans.

But to check for errors, I now used AIFPC to decompile the files I compiled with AIFP2 and discovered that AIFP2 removes the @.

I then compiled my hand-written files with AIFPC - which saves the @. The problem was then solved, but the questions of my post above remain.

As I said, this is a question for the author of AIFP, which will probably answer you if you post this in the AIFP forum.

Hi,

Extract from the AIFP manual:
5.4 Editing Leg Time Fields - AI Flight Planner does not use TTools “@” and “TNG” prefixes for arrival times. The function performed by the “@” symbol is automatic with AI Flight Planner. (Any arrival time that differs by more than two minutes from the system-calculated arrival time is assumed to have been specified by you. This tolerance is necessary to accommodate “jitter” introduced by de-compilation.) Touch ‘n go operation is specified using a checkbox.
