• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Stupid question!

Interesting read. Thank you. 1 question; how do I make sure I am not using animation? Odd question I know, the reason for the question is when exporting to MCX I get loads of error messages regarding missing animation. I cannot work out why. I think it might be becuase of the use of texture nodes.

I think there might be keyframes in you scene, which is what causes the issue.... You can check by selecting all and opening a dope sheet editor screen (like one opens a node editor screen) and see if there is anything there.

no see you are using blender notes and that won't work. Go back to blender render, create a normal material and assign the texture in the tab next to the materials tab (to the right of it, the checkerboard icon)
So i am no seeing black and white checkered boxes in MCX, which i am guessing means that MCX is picking up there is a required texture to be applied.

True, but it means it cannot find the texture it should display (either no .DDS version available or it is somewhere in a folder stucture)

Ok, so now i need to convert all the textures into .DDS?
Yeah. Bes sure to have the files in a scenery & texture folder structure so mcx will find the textures.

Note that when converting the textures need to be flipped vertically. Depending on the tool you use this will happen automatically or you will have to do it yourself.

What tool does it automatically? At the moment I am editing in photo shop, manually sending DTX flipping and exporting and applying. There must be a better way to do this!

So you are exporting directly from Photoshop?
Flip, export, undo the flip and save. That's how I do it with GIMP.
The easiest way would be a command line driven conversion tool with all the parameters (output format, flip or not, mipmap filter formula etc) as arguments so one could write a batch file to bulk convert all the textures with one click.
Sadly I don't know of any tool like that.

Search on google for Nvidia photoshop DDS plugin ;)

The NVidia Texture Tools (which contains the NVidia DDS plug-in) doesn't flip automatically,... the only tool that I know of that can, due to the options, is ImageTool (part of the SDK).

Hi,

You can in the settings. In fact it is a really good tool for Photoshop. Highly recommended

Except that it can and it can be set up to do this automatically when exporrting and importing :)

I was referring to batch mode,... yes it is a great tool... of course the batch mode probably depends on the particular version of Photoshop (if there is a batch conversion process available, and if the plug-in allows a batch mode process within Photoshop) used.

I think GIMP's plugin does allow a batch mode... will have to research it....

Arrr ok. Understand. I have not found a batch mode. I just edit in PH save as dds and hit the flip switch, save in the loction. All done.
