• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Future Versions 2

any particular reason you cant move markers "to the back." Its really annoying when I have to replace PAPI boxes from where the model registry has been moved and to get it just right its really pesky :p

cmon Greg...I want to donate but dont have a way to...

Mike, if you ever eat at McD's, then you can just take that 10 bucks and send it to Jon. :) There is always a way.. So many people say they don't have, yet, they forget all the little luxuries they can scrape up money for. :)

As for your idea...Ummmm...sounds good. Of course, every word of it is total greek to me.. LOL Guessing Jon will understand it.

im not saying i have no money, im saying that I dont have a credit card or paypal, etc

you can click "move to back" (and even move the models "to the front") but it does nothing

ahh. I have never used a marker for anything...so I know nothing about how they react... :)

I bet Jon takes money orders or Western Union. :) (I have no clue honestly..but I bet he would)

is it possible to have an option that parking spots automatically are placed according to the heading of the screen rather than always north:)

Re-ordering is based on the layer that the object is in. This is to stop someone burying objects under aprons etc. Markers are in the top layer so cannot be moved behind other things. This is because generally speaking users want to see the markers, guidelines etc and not lose them behind other stuff :)

One suggestion, one semantics question..

S: Ability to pull in satelite images. I know this has been mentioned before, but I didn't see it on the list. This would make creation of all things in ADE almost too simple. :) Currently, I use SBuilderX to have a sat image. I have that on one screen. I have FS behind it. I have ADE on the other screen. I connect all to FS so I can see my position. I use the SBX image to do my work in ADE. A round about way to do it, but it works.. Would be nice if ADE gave the option. And if/when it is added,I hope the option to choose which sat imagery to use in included. Sometimes google is the best. Others it is MS's. I am sure there are others as well now.

Q: As a former software creator, I am just curious as to why the upcoming version will be 1.45? This addition of FS9 to ADE is a HUGE upgrade to the software. Seems to me that it most certainly qualifies as a 2.0 version. At least that is what I would make it. If you call it a minor upgrade, I would love to see what you think is major? Mind reading design version?? :) hehehe

Not all future features are on the suggestion list and the one you mention is there on my development tracker :)

Well we go up in 0.05 versions since ADE is really based on incremental rather than a step development. But that is just me.

Also I see version numbering related to functionality. Yes we do now support FS9 but it is really with the same functionality that we have for FSX.

The next version (1.50) will see incremental improvements for both versions.

However there is a version 2.0 spec here but I can't tell you what is in it ;)

Feature Request - Helper Shapes - Approach Mode

Hi Folks

Jon -
Would you please consider adding -
- Helper shapes to the Approach Mode window.
- Nautical Miles, for helper shapes, (rather than just metres).
- Ability to export helper shape as a boundary object.

Purpose -
To aid route creation,
I need to create lots of intersections at various DME ranges.

TIA

Feature Request - Lists - Export - Generic Columns - Approaches, Navaids, Waypoints

Hi Folks

Jon -
To -
- Aid route creation.
- Minimize replication of default data
- Ensure hookups to appropriate terminal waypoint.

Would it be possible please
to genericise the list export's output for Approaches, Navaids, & Waypoints ?

Suggested -
Code:
SOURCE, CLASS, REGION, Ident, Type, Name, Suffix, Runway, Fix Type, Fix Ident, Freq, Airport, Dist Nm, Comments
SOURCE == The loaded airport, i.e. from where the list was generated.

EDIT -
Also include lat/lon coords of items.

Feature Request - Approach Mode - Route Creation

Hi Folks

Jon -
To aid route creation -
Would it be possible please to implement the following -
- Different window background colour.
- Display links between approach waypoints.
- Import approaches, indicate if no items were loaded.
- Import routes, (not just approaches).
- Display full route extent.
- Context menu - Show XML - for any item displayed, (not just for airport items).

TIA

OK Paul
I will add them to the list :)

A checkbox in the taxiway sign dialogue to add/orient to the sign's heading a concrete or other surface pad would be nice.

An option to make the taxiway sign automatically perpendicular to the taxiway would be nice.
Also, the ability to move approach legs up or down saves time when editing legs that are in the middle.

I have two ideas that i would find VERY helpful...

1. Have "hotkeys" or shortcut keys like AFCAD221 (ex. Press 'N' to show all nodes for parking and taxis, 'L' for lighting (in 1.50 if applicable), 'A' to show Navaids,.....etc)

2. Expansion of the "Lock" menu. Instead of only being able to 'mass-lock' aprons and runways, I think locking generic buildings, parking spots, taxiways, etc... would be helpful
:D

Thanks Michael. I will be adding these to the list.

When we are on the hotkey subject. Make one for locking selected object.

Also, locking objects should only keep it from moving accidentally, not keep you from editing. Double click to edit or via right click menu should work. Only item grayed out with lock in place should be coordinates.
