• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

texture question

Hi all,

I've been experimenting with effects etc in Jasc Paint Shop pro but i still don't have a good result for my rwy, taxiway, apron textures. I would like to ask if as much designers as posible can give away their "secrets" of good texture making.

Thx in advance

A little tips I've learned:
  1. Use med-high resolution for you texture. In my next scenery, I'll use about 1.1m/px
  2. Use the alphachannel! It gives very good results and most of payware scenery use it a lot, such Vienna of Flytampa
  3. When you create texture for buildings, try to add fake shadows of windows etc... it looks more realistic
bye!

i'm using real photos for buildings, just how to add concreet textures etc on textures to look more realistic, i tried it but it wasn't realistic. I need some more info on how ground textures can be made realistic, like LPMA (www.freewebs.com/lpma) or the Flytampa textures

Actually I don't like them very much - ok the pics at the bottom of the page show quite nice apron textures. :)

I'd say the only thing you'll need are good pics of concrete or real aprons.
Reworking textures (for a more dirty look for example) is always very difficult, for they look rather synthetic in most cases.

So just take your digicam to the next airport and take some pictures from the visitors place. :)
