• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Texture Template Editor Question

In the Texture Template Editor, when you bring it up there is already the Set Default Opaque choice listed. This makes it easy to add the properties for opaque objects. But in my copy the Set Default Transparent choice is not listed. This makes it much harder to save variants of transparent materials, since I have to enter those one by one (and assume that the same properties used in Set Default Opaque are the only ones that need to be changed for Set Default Transparent).

How can I add the Set Default Transparent choice into that Editor?

Thanks,

Hi,

That's because set default transparent is a special one. It's not just setting some values, but actually calculating the best values based on the texture.

Oh, I didn't realize that. I did notice that some people get the Alpha Test Level (?) set to 15, and others to 128. All of mine were set to 128 using Set Default Transparent, unless I changed it manually.

So that cannot be done as a template, nor as a Batch Conversion. Too bad. Is there something I can do to predict what that setting should be?

Thanks,

It evaluates the alpha channel and then picks the best value.

In the batch wizard you could apply two templates. One for default transparent and then your custom one for the other settings.

Hi,

Thanks, that should work OK.

I did find that a value of 15 seemed to work fine for all my people objects.
