• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

texture tiling

Roby, lines will work, as demonstrated by George 5 posts above with the curved path.

Why do you think they won't?

Don

In my opinion, you will rarely get a straight texture to fit a curved polygon by hand -it's just too hard. That's why you use curved lines instead - Don straightens them for you when you choose the line style. :)

In theory, you would handle curved polygons exactly the same - make them perfectly straight in the GP Editor.

True enough, Tom.

I even made a copy of the pattern lines and implemented this as a new patterned_line so that the gp-editor would consider it to be a 'line' texture.
It does not work.
I tried resizing without touching verties, I tried polygons as wel as poly lines, I tried but in the end the texture will not distort.

How about this Roby?

It was achieved with only two dimensioned textures.

I'll continue with the curved runway exit.

Really! Extremely curious to know how you managed that:confused:!
But I see in another thread that you ran into other problems. Sorry for that.

If I can make the runway centre-line visible, I will finish it and send you the textures.

Would be nice, George, but I would prefer you manage to explain to me how you did it.
I guess that in the morning (after having brought the dogs to the vet for vaccinations) I will have to make custom textures to fully grasp what you are doing.
Tom, in the orher thread mentioned fixed size textures. Mine are resized. Maybe that is one of the problems but cannot be the solution for the curved textures.
Hence my perplexity.

Yes, you must use fixed size textures. Create the texture such that it includes only one line and make the height and width at the correct aspect ratio. These are the two textures I used, the "slant" at the top and the "normal" in the second position. The width corresponds to about 28m:
