• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Textures disappeared

Had made this beautiful hangar that was at KGRB. Everything worked fine. Was able to place the hangar using EZ Scenery. Now that the real hangar has been demolished, I wanted to move it to another airport. Well, when I moved it, the textures disappeared. They're still in the appropriate folder, but the building is blank. Using FSDS 3.0, FS9, Win XP home SP3.

Are you sure, that the scenery-file (bgl-file) has access to the texture?
The texture also must be moved to the correct folder exept if you have a library with its own scenery and texture folder, lets see and example:

Assume this is the folder of your KGRB-scenery
d:\scenery\KGRB\scenery
d:\scenery\KGRB\texture

and your texture is located in the above texture folder.

If you have a new airport
d:\scenery\KGNEW\scenery
d:\scenery\KGNEW\texture

you have to move the texture file(s) to the new texture folder (d:\scenery\KGNEW\texture). Otherwise the BGL-file in d:\scenery\KGNEW\scenery doesn´t find the texture.

If you have objects you want to use in several sceneries, make a Library which includes all these objects. The library has its own scenery and its own texture folder so you do not have to duplicate textures. It is activated in FSX like every other scenery but only once for all sceneryies that use these objects. However if it is only this single hangar, the copy method is easier I guess.

Thank you for your response. I have tried several options, including your suggestions, prior to posting this thread. but to no avail. One thing that I did notice is that when I changed the textures to 16 bit, they all of a sudden showed up, but some of walls were pink in color and some were as they should be. Problem not yet solved.

Note that 24 bit BMP textures are not supported by FS.

Although this is supposedly the case, as I had indicated in my first post, the textures initially worked with my hangar no problem, and they were 24 bit BMP textures. But I am going to try converting them to 16 or 32 bit and see if that helps. Thanks again for the responses.

When you place objects with EZ Scenery, it is that program that is displaying them on the screen, not FS. While EZ Scenery may display 24 bit BMP textures, once you restart FS (and thus FS is now displaying the objects) they will no longer display.

Hope this helps,

The textures appeared just fine under FS. It wasn't until I removed it from the scenery and then moved it to the new airport that they failed to reappear. (And the textures don't even appear with EZ scenery, either) Have made custom buildings with FSDS, all with 24 bit textures, and they appear fine under FS.
