• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Textures not working

Ok, will check them tonight.

Send from my phone using Tapatalk, so excuse the short sentences and possible typos

Hi,

Sorry, I forgot to check. I see no problem here. Put your object in FS and using the textures you send me it shows fine.

figured out the problem. bgl was located in ADE library scenery folder, textures were in the ade texture folder.

I moved textures to the addon texture folder and the model bgl to the scenery folder containing the modified airport bgl file and it worked.
Thought the models were contained in the airport objects bgl since it was added using ADE and compiled.

Hi,

If you use the LOM in ADE to add the object, then the object itself is not included in the ADE BGL file and the library BGL file must be added separately to an active scenery folder.

If instead you add an MDL file to your ADE airport, then that will be added to your ADE BGL file and no other file is needed.

Hope this helps,

So what you say is, IF I import a BGL using the LOM in ADE, then after placing I MUST include the models BGL in order for the model to display . . . Correctly anyhow.

If I use an MDL file in the ADE airport instead of a BGL, and then compile, the airport BGL file will contain the model within, thus the model BGL will not be required, it will be in the airport BGL.

How do I use MDL's in ADE? I seem to only be able to find BGL files from the LOM within ADE.

From the ADE menu - Lists/Models. Add the models you want to use.

Then in ADE, right click the map, Add/Model.

This doesn't use the LOM.

Don't forget you will need to add the model's textures to the airport's TEXTURE folder.

Hope this helps,

PS. Adding as an MDL file is fine if the model is going to be used only at this airport (or a few airports). Objects like the terminal building, custom hangars, etc. If the MDL file will be used at many airports (like ramp equipment, etc.), then it's better to be a library object (since the MDL file is present only once in FS, rather than dozens of times).

Hope this helps,

So if a library object it needs to be a BGL.
That BGL will need to be in the same folder per airport or just in an active scenery folder?

Any active scenery folder, along with their textures in the adjoining TEXTURE folder.
