• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Thanks for the heads up, Jon. Haven't hit any of the ones on the freeware part of your list yet. So, here are the remaining seaplane aerodromes I plan on developing:

Stewart, Silver City, Kincolith, Port Simpson, Seal Cove, Digby Island, Masset, Hartley Bay, Queen Charlotte City, Alliford Bay, Ocean Falls, Waglisa, Shearwater, Rivers Inlet, Sullivan Bay, Port Hardy, Echo Bay, Health Bay, Minstrel Island, Port McNeill, Alert Bay, Camp Cordero, Blind Channel, Big Bay, Jeune Landing, Surge Narrows, Whaletown, Mansons Landing, Kyuquot, Zeballos, Campbell River, Tahsis, Powell Ake, Courtenay Airpark, Gold River, Pender Harbour, False Bay, Sechelt, Vancouver Harbour, Port Alberni, Sproat Lake, Tofino Harbour, Ucluelet, Bamfield, Victoria Harbour.

Remember, these are meant to be place holders, until someone develops better ones for them!

Steve

Hi Steve, the only overlap is on CYWH, Victoria Harbour on the freeware list, sorry I forgot to list that one! And Shawnigan Lake is CAV8. If your readme suggests that folks layer Victoria+ and/or Vancouver+ higher than your addon in the scenery library, all should work fine.

Let me know what you plan to call it (ie the .zip download name) and I can add a note to our readme's as well.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Jon

It's been some time since my last post, but I'm back again (I hope ;-) )

Started last week with TNCB (Bonaire Flamingo Airport) besides EDDF. It is a nice small airport and I was thinking about designing it last year, because some of my colleagues went there for diving. Now some friends asked me if I could design it for FS. I'll use it for doing more efficent project management and finding better workflows during creation and for ground texturing tests (to get really nice groundlayers) in a smaller area. And till now, I must say that I learned a lot while working on FRA and there are many things at EDDF I would do different now.

Screenshot rendered through Cinema 4D with the textures later used in FS. I still have to tweak the markings and the edges a bit, but the rest is okay so fair I think.

(External link because of the filesize)

More Information on "my" TNCB and the well growing FRA during the next days in the showroom.

My current project for FSX: http://followme.supercell.nl Commercial, release is near, but I may hold it back until Acceleration is released.

After that I will have a look at my free Logbook fixing utility as I have received some logbooks that the program was not able to repair.

That looks cool, Daniel. :)

Only thing I don't like is the FollowMe-car. :D

Honestly: why use a model that looks like FS5? If you need help for a more detailed car let me know. ;)

Hi Thorsten,

Thanks! And I agree with you on the car :)

But... for my very first model I'm not that unhappy with it. Since the main focus of the add-on is it's functionality and the view of the car from the plane doesn't show that many details I decided to leave it for now. I will see what adding a bumpmap will do, but that may be overkill given the overall (lack of) detail of the model.

Still, selling requires eyecandy so it will be high on the improvement lists. I'll keep your offer in mind, but for now I think I can do better myself.

Arkansas scenery

Hello all,

First off, thnx to everyone who has posted here at FSDeveolper as well as FFDS Forums and SimForums. Your questions and answers have been a great benifit to a newby scenery guy.

Currently working on KROG (Rogers Muni-Carter Field) Version 2 for FS9 and Version 1 for FSX. The FS9 version 1 was released April '07 against my better judgement and wasn't finished like I wanted. BIG mistake... won't happen again.

Future plans:
KFLP (Flippen (AR) Muni) - A little GA airport better known for it's proximity to the Ranger Boat Mfg Plant, at the end of the rwy.
KXNA (NW Ark Regional) - It's been done before by other designers, but I now have a source inside the airport for more detailed info.
KASG (Springdale (AR) Muni) - A GA airport known locally for it's strange layout and hangar art.

Also working on a release of my custom scenery objects for EZ-Scenery and IS.

That should keep me busy for a while.

Thnx again,
Larry

I've been slowly but surely grinding away at Naval Air Station Pensacola for what seems like a lot longer than the five months its actually been. The revised shorelines, landclasses, and the runways, taxiways, and aprons are done. So all the easy work is over. Two of the likely dozens of building models are finished, but I took a break from that to work on the ground textures. Never done those before, so its a learning process.

Top is default and right is where I've worked to so far. The streets have a long way to go, as do all of the ground textures. I'm pretty sure this will never actually be finished. Its a labor of love more than anything else. In fact, I'm figuring it'll be FS11 by the time I'm done. Even scrapped four days of work on some FS2002/2004 style ground polys for custom runway textures in an effort to futureproof it.

Looking good, radivil. Is it for FSX? I was working on KNPA before I got involved in another project. Here's a screenie of hanger 1854.

Yes it is for FSX. That hangar 1854 looks really good. I was working on 1853 when I ran into some trouble with not really being able to figure out how tall it was and to get the roof to look right. Currently I am planning on having another chance to be down there in December. And no matter what I wind up doing in regard with compromises with what FSX lets me do, the museum's apron will be left empty. Even if I could track down all the right planes, I assume its impact on performance would be somewhere between "shockingly brutual" and "unrelentingly merciless."

Currently, in my own time, I am working on an FS addon program that augments the standard FS helicopter flight dynamics with some nice features, i.e. torque yaw, tail rotor effectiveness, etc. It uses FSUIPC to extract data, mod it, the write it back depending on a set of coefficients specific to different helicopter models. Early development releases have generated a lot of positive feedback from guys at Hovercontrol.com.

My Latest Project - EGSJ

I had already posted a topic concerning my latest project on the Showroom. Today I just noticed this part of the forum.
So just in case anyone is thinking about Seething (EGSJ) - I have almost finished it and will be passing it around for beta testing - if anyone is interested. This could have been any airport - I chose Seething because it was almost nothing in its default state. I don't mind anyone working on another Seething airport and wouldn't want to put them off.
My idea has been to make a biggish airport with lost of scenery and lots of activity. The planes that fly in and out are diverse - from a Baron to an Airbus, all types.
The scenery is mixed with lots of default objects and my own designs. My latest addition was a set of 8 articulated trucks.
There are 5 terminals - a Cargo Centre - a Hotel - a 2 Fire Stations with my own vehicles. Animated flags, Hangers with AI planes parking in them. Fences with gates, a surrounding wall for the whole field.
The frame rate is really slow but to compensate this the scenery in my opinion is worth having because it is almost 'real' in that there are objects of almost every description including people waiting by the buses to go somewhere.
This airport was made with AFX and FSDS v3 - I used EZ-Scenery and Obplacer for the placement of scenery objects.

I'm still dripping with excitement and the resulting, common "showoff" urge after you've achieved an important breakthrough.

Thanks to Jim Vile's clever exclusion idea I finally managed to get the FSX jetways working on my Riga (EVRA) scenery so I'm definately gonna spend more time on it now.

:D

My other focus is a FSX Do-328 Prop & Jet, but there's still a loooooooooong way to go, especially since I've still got much to learn in 3DS Max. :ziplip:

Heretic - some of those EVRA textures look like they're from the FS9 scenery by Matthew Ministry, is that right? I'm sure I recognize the people in the pier! :)

Surely you'd be better off with photos?

Maryland Airports.

Starting with 2W6 Duke Regional at St Mary's. about 50% finished
Next will be KNHK Patuxant River NAS Just started laying out the Exclusions/ Flattens and Runways.
Then I will continue until I get my fill of Scenery design.

rojawajr

I'd be very interested in seeing how 2W6 turns out.
I have many many hrs out of there while stationed at Pax River.
Keep us informed.

Here is my progress so far on 2W6.

Airport boundries, Fencing, Aprons Taxiways and road laid out. Still need to add buildings and scenery objects and refine approaches. Its getting there.

Difar? I take it you are an acoustics guy?
