• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Sure thing,

I downloaded a bgl file for KMDW off of Flightsim. All I want to do is change a gate code so I can add another Frontier gate. I opened the file with no problem and changed the gate. When I went to compile it, thats the message that comes up in a little box. Then right after it says compile complete but when I re-open the bgl, it's back to its original self.

The most likely cause is that ADE cannot find BglComp.exe Check that you have this correct in settings. If you still get the problem then please attach or email (jon AT scruffyduck.co.uk) the file called ade_200802.log. That way we have a better chance to see what is happening

You are looking for the FSX SDK - did you install it from the Deluxe Edition? The SDK is usually inside the Mircrosoft Game Folder and once in the SDK you need SDK > Environment Kit > Bgl Compiler SDK > BglComp.exe

Well I got the SDK up and running and I opened my bgl and edited my gates and went to compile it and got a huge list of errors....Pretty sure I'm just going to give up. I'm not sure why I get an error the file was downloaded for FSX and worked fine with FSX and all I did was change a couple of gate names so.

yeah, do I need to update the SDK's at all?

You do need to update from the SDK on the DVD. This contains a version of BglComp that will not compile boundary fences so you need at least SP1
