• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi Matthew!
I just did some testing with FSXKML 1.04 and so far it's working very well!
When experimenting a bit with PolygonHoles, I found that no matter which direction I draw a Polygon in GE, it is saved with its coordinates clockwisely.
Well, as you know, PolygonHoles must be in the opposed direction in relation with their parent Polygons. Of course, one can always invert the direction in FSXKML. But when we are talking about several dozens islands (which is the case in my scenery :) ) this process can be very tedious.
My question/proposal/suggestion/wish is: since everything we draw in GE is in one direction, and Holes should be in the other direction, wouldn't it make sense to invert the coordinates of Holes automatically at build time? IMHO it seems very logical.
Thanks for the patience and for this GREAT program!

Yes... good idea. I didn't realize GE always wrote the polygons in a clockwise direction irrespective of which way they were drawn.

In that case, I'll write polygon holes in an reverse direction automatically.

Give me a day or so and Ill upload 1.05 with the auto reverse fix.

Wind Direction optional

Hi, Matthews

As GE isn't the only source to FSX KML's polys, I think that changing the wind direction should be first verified by the program or left as an option to the GE's users.

PS:
=== v1.04 Beta - 20th Jan 2007 ===

Issues resolved:-

* Add REVERSE POINTS button to allow direction of polygon/polyline to be reversed

I didn't find that buton. Could help?

That would be easy to solve. Just make the "reverse point order in holes automatically" an optional feature (stored in the INI file, of course, so we don't have to set it up every time). And the manual reverse method could be left the way it is, so that users can experiment freely.

Ah, before I forget. Matthew, I found a bug. When I start FSXKML and the previously used KML (stored in the INI) does no longer exist, an error happens and it's no longer possible to remove the KML from the list in the UI.
Also, I noted that the export path for the shapefiles now is the same path of the program's exe. Previously my shapefiles were saved at the same folder where my KML is. I think a better way would be to specify an output path (saved in the INI, of course). As a default, an "output" folder in the same path of the EXE would be fine, I think.
