• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Tower View

Right-click anywhere on the grid and select "Tower"

Note. This option will not be available if there is an existing tower view.

I dont have that option available on the list in the drop down box am i right to assume that i already have a tower view

Most airports have a tower view but it must be set to a meter or feet value.

The pictures shows the Tower View (pink circle with a T in the middle) and a sceneryobject which is the Tower. You will have a pink circle and if the Tower exist then the yellow box will cover the pink circle.

Click on the pink circle and set the altitude of the eye point view. Some towers have glass that you cannot see through so set the altitude view above the Tower top. You can also move the tower and tower view if needed but keep them together so the eye view is the same Lat/lon has the tower.

If you already have one then the option to add one is not available. you can only have one tower view per airport.

Jon,...

Thats a shame, since some of the big airports has more then one Tower. Its to bad we can't move around to different towers within an airport... I know its a limitation of FSX.. but changing to a different tower would be neat!

:)

here is a little trick. Create a new airport beside or ontop of the airport you are working on. Thus you only add a tower to your new "airport" and Multiple towers are yours, and they even will have their own name!

Is that Legal? :) Interesting though... makes sense! I know that FSX added new views workings and I thought there was a way.. but not sure on the works.. or is that aircraft views I'm thinking of

ok i assume that i have a tower view but on my airfield but i cant see it on the airfield and when i go to tower view in FSX all i get is a blue sceen and it freakes the grahics card out so how to i edit the tower view data

In ADE you are looking for the pink circle with a 'T' in it. It is not necessary to have a physical tower object for there to be a tower view. I am not aware of any stock airports that do not have one. ADE creates one automatically for a new airport. Thus unless someone decides to delete the tower view I would expect it to be there.

By default on a new airport, ADE creates the tower-view at the airport reference point.

I havnt got the T icon on my airfield which is a new one not a stock airfield so how do i get the information into ADE if it isnt there

When you make a new airport with ADE it creates a Airport Reference Point (ARP) at the Lat/Lon you specified. You cannot make a new airport without this information.

If you zoom in close to your ARP symbol, under neath of it is a circle with a "T" in it. That is your Tower View.

ALL Airports that a user makes that are not part of the stock airport database, ADE generates the proper code for the Tower View when you made the ARP.

If you started your airport with someone elses utility then changed over to ADE you may not have a Tower View.

If that is your case then you must add the Tower view in the XML file by hand.

Actually you don't need to do that Jim. Right click on the ADE display and select Add. In the sub menu look for 'Tower' near the bottom. If it is not there then there is indeed a tower view at the airport. If the menu option is there then you can Click Tower and one will be added.

If ADE will not allow you to add a tower, there must be one already present. Open the created xml file in notepad and look for <Tower. This will give you the lat/long position.

Thanks Jon

I was thinking that option allowed a sceneryObject to install above the Airport header. Did not realize we were adding the Tower View Lat/Lon tags to the XML by way of .ade.
