• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v5 Two "failure to compile" issues

Using the latest development version 4.79 with Prokey, I have 2 issues that cause ADE not to compile. This happens with some FSX airports I got from avsim.su and that I am trying to convert to P3D v. 5.

The first is caused by a helipad present with a latitude outside the permitted range of -90 to +90 degrees. How does one find (and then delete) this culprit?

The second one I have seen now a couple of times. when compiling, several taxi paths reference an unexisting runway. How does one resolve this one? This runway does not appear in the runway list, of course, because it's non-existent.

Upon seeing these errors I went into RTFM mode, but I don't see anything relevant in the fine manual, and not in the FAQs either.

Mystified -

1. Go to Tools/Raw Data View, find the airport and click the triangle to the left of that. Then search the list for the word Helipad.

2. If you know the start or end taxi point index numbers you can use List/Taxi Links to find them - click the index number heading to sort by that column. If not, you will probably need to delete those taxi paths and create new ones. I realize that finding them may be difficult. Another choice would be to create that runway (and a black runway link?), then delete any taxiways linked to it. Then delete the runway - but I don't think this will work because it's not the actual runway that needs to be present, it's the nodes on the black runway links. I don't think ADE allows you to re-use deleted taxi point node numbers.

Thanks for the tips, Tom!

#1 was easy enough, the offending helipad was removed and the airport compiled OK.

#2 proved to be easy also, but it didn't work quite the way you described - in List/Taxi Links, there was no Index Number heading in my version of ADE. However, in the column headed Name, the offending runways showed up fine, so I deleted those. This had the effect of removing the black links in the runways, adding those back in was easy enough, and now the airport compiled.

Thanks again -

Jorgen
