• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Unhiding hidden objects

May be a silly question but here goes. I am using the prokey function to hide some objects but to my dismay I cannot unhide them again. Am I missing something or is there an instruction manual on how to use the ProKey capabilities.

Go to "View->Restore Hidden Objects". Unfortunately it is all or notihng.

Thanks George that does it, pity there is no details for the ProKey facilities, at least non that I have found.

If you use the comments to describe the object (I use descriptions like "Apron Corner Twy N/W NE Corner", "Apron Corner Twy N/W NW Corner", "Taxi Centerline Twy N", "Taxi Centerline Twy N/W NW Corner" etc) then you can open up the list of objects you want to unhide, scroll through the list and double click the item in the list. It should unhide it (and only the one you double clicked) and allow you to edit it's properties. Just close the properties box and move to the next one you want to unhide.

We should document it better and I will see what can be done. Unfortunately with a program like ADE there is a lot of documentation and a lot of updates. With the best will in the world not all of it gets done in good time. However I try to document on the online help site any time someone asks how to do something and I will see what I can do on this one.

in the meantime it does not have to be
not all or nothing - the method George describes will unhide everything if that is what you want to do. To unhide one object hold down the D key and hidden objects will show. With the D key down just click on the one you want to un-hide. Once it is selected then it is no longer hidden. Release the D key and any other hidden objects will hide again bar the one you selected.

Thank you Jon, I too thought it was all or nothing. I tried this out and found that you have to at least click the mouse somewhere in ADE for the hidden objects to show when you press the D key. If you just load a project with hidden objects and press the D key nothing happens. I tried clicking in the view menu, clicking on the project background, and moving the project. All of them made the D key active.

Thanks for that information Ed. I will try to remember to add that to the help article
