• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v2 United States Navy -- all of it.

Did I hear that USS Green Bay will be included?? I'm a plank Owner for the USS Green bay along with LCS 5 USS Milwaukee.

You heard right. All of them.

I am not sure at this point how many of the USNS ships will make it in but I should be able to cover all the (surface) combatants. Not sure I'll do the subs yet, we will see.

LCS 5 isn't yet in service so that one may or may not make the cut. I might go ahead and throw it in, but I'd have to a reasonable idea where it will be assigned in terms of homeport.

I was working on animations and I didn't quite get there. I wanted to have the well deck doors open & close on command but that's not really possible in FSX/P3D if it is a moving object (unless you are driving the ship). So that is way I was experimenting a bit with SODE -- a bit like a hangar were you can trigger the doors to open/close from your aircraft.

For the AI moving traffic I can do it but it would have to be animated on a timer. Not the best solution.

If you look at the USS Nimitz and USS Eisenhower by Javier Fernandez they also have a timer on the aircraft lift. Not too fancy but it works. So if things don't work out with SODE, then I hope you consider the same principle as Javier did.

Yes for the lifts I planned to try that as well. I might have to do that for the well deck doors on these amphib ships -- less optimal because you will see them opening up out in the middle of the ocean. I don't know, maybe I can set them to open up for a couple hours every third or fourth day. Then I could at least plan my routes around that.

Another important capital surface ship class -- now in sim.

Had a bit of trouble with this one, thanks to the guys in the Blender forum for getting me sorted.

Looking great! One question about the aircraft on that carrier though... And perhaps it's quite a stupid one, but I'm not familiar with the US Navy's aircraft invertory. However when I look at those two dual-rotor helicopters on the rear of the vessel I would believe they might be CH-47s (although I might be wrong) or another type of dual-rotor helicopter. However I don't know if the US Navy actaully operates any dual-rotors... Atleast not that I know of... Or are they perhaps CH-46 in USMC spec? But they look great anyway!

They aren't CH-47s but CH-46 Sea Knights, which was the standard medium lift helicopter for the Marines and Navy. They were replaced by the MV-22 Ospreys and UH-60 Blackhaws and Seahawks.

Well I know too little about the US Navy :) I thought only the USMC had Sea Knights, or atleast I thought only the USMC had them in that colour. Turns out I was wrong...

Hey that's my ship! I'm actually serving on her right now. The ship is an LHD (USS WASP to be exact) and it's known as an amphib. It's primary job is to transport Marines (about 2000 or so) and their equipment (artillery, tanks, aircraft, etc) and get it ashore. That's including their helos and jets (minus Hornets). So yes, those are Marine Helos on the deck.

Jimi thanks for checking in -- Go Navy, and thanks for what you do.

These amphib ships are part of a larger force, called a Marine Expeditionary Unit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_expeditionary_unit

This is one of them them here.

The vision I had for this project was to recreate these Amphib Ready Groups that make up these MEUs. Same thing for the Carrier Battle Groups. So we will have them coming and going from homeport to the op areas where the air units are so they can be there offshore available for you to fly your Navy/Marine aircraft from your home base to 'deploy' aboard these ships. Imagine them coming/going from Norfolk down to Mayport FL and so on, or from San Diego up the coast of California, out to Hawaii, etc. Also you have the units stationed in Japan, so those will be done as well. So that is one set of traffic. Additional traffic sets will be made around the world where they typical operate, or historically have operated -- Med Sea, Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean, WestPac deployments, so on and so forth.

nope, this won't be freeware.

Cannot yet answer the second question -- depends on my own learning curve.

Hey Ripcord, great work once again. I don't know if you know about the Royal French Navy Team , which I am related to as a ship modeler but they've come up with a solution to activate hangar doors animations with a special gauge that you have to install on your aircraft though. The new verion even allows you to be transported directly to the flight deck.

If you want some more explanations about this gauge and animations let me know. If you visit the ship page, you'll see my creations where I animated hangar doors and saftey deck barriers.

cheers

Thank you sir, yes somebody pointed this out to me via PM on these forums. I am interested in learning how you did this.
