• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I'm trying to make a Volcano, and i am very close to do it

But the slop of volcano on N - S are square
And the slop of volcano on E -W are OK

Polygone inside are from 150' to 500' and outside 100' around as you can see in Thumbs

Can someone help me, i do not know how to fix

"Flattens" in FSX are not necessarily flat. You can assign a specific elevation to each vertex. That might help to get rid of the plateaus.

Also, you could split the polys into triangles, to approximate a more mesh-like look.

Dick

Hi Dick ;

I have different elevation for each vertex.

But what do you mean "split the polys into triangles" !

Could you explane me how to ?

You need to facet the sides with more polygons. Here is a very crude effort:

It is an extremely tedious process.

Here is the result of my fisrt volcano :)

Hi all;

Now i activate the eruption with a specific time and duration in SDK.

Question : is it possible to activate the eruption with distance (say 2-3 nm) instade of time ?

If possible wath do i need, or how to ?

I'm not sure, but you may be able to trigger an effect at distance using a mission.

Dick

Hi Dick,

I dont want to use a mission, i want the effect to be in any flight and anytime.
As soon as you get closer to it, i would like it to start erupting.

PS: i never create a mission :rolleyes:

I am interested in the business of triggering animations, but as is said before seem it's possible only creating a mission, coul be another way round?
Oldguy you shold place somoke on the shoreline where the lava meet the water :D

i first you should to now the dimension and size the volcano, small volcano need precise mesh resolution than big volcano

second you change fsx setting- scenery -mesh resolution = smaller is better (not for fps). i use 10 meter for mesh resolution

sorry my english
