• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Hello, i've got a strange problem, using MCX... I do my model under Sketchup, export it at different development stages like (File v0.1/v.0.2 etc) and appears, coming from nowhere a bug into my 3d model : Few parts are missing and appears transparent in the model.

My model now have a Holed Cheese look ...
How do i repair this ? any Ideas ? any clues ?
Thank you very much, for your help, it'll be greatly appreciated.

FS9 compiler? If so, there is a bug in the VC that any vertices closer than 4mm will be welded. See other sites about various ways to avoid this.

Hope this helps,

Do those parts of the objects have a gray/black alpha channel for making it reflective? If so, AFAIK MCX will display those as transparent.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

Does the problem also occur when you load the MDL in FSX later on? If so it could also be a bug in the ModelConverterX preview.

Hi,

Not yet, from the pictures I find it hard to see what exactly goes on.

Does the event log show any error messages?

these are the warnings following in the event log :

11:56 AM DAEReader Warning Found unsupported primitive COLLADA.Document+Line
11:57 AM Renderer Warning The size of texture58.bmp is not a power of 2, this is required by FS

Hi,

The warning about lines is OK, that should not be a problem.

Also the warning about the texture size is not an issue in ModelConverterX, but of course FSX will not process the texture correctly.

For the materials that have the problem, did you try to reset the material properties to "Set Default Opaque"? Just to exclude the alpha channel as a potential cause.

Hello Arno, i tried this solution, but unfortunately it doesn't work... any other ideas ? i'm going to test with the development release, maybe it could help ...

Hi,

In general the development release has more functionality, so I would for sure try that one. Although I don't think I worked much on the COLLADA reader since the last release.

Could you post some other screenshots of the problem maybe? I am try to understand what really goes wrong.
