Hi Everyone!
Welcome to West Melton. A small aerodrome located in, ironically, West Melton, New Zealand. The aerodrome is 6 nautical miles west of Christchurch International Airport. The aerodrome is owned and operated by the Canterbury Aero Club, which operate out of Christchurch International, but use West Melton for ab-inito training as it is an ideal training environment away from the busy environment of an international airport. The airport has 3 runways - 2 and half of which are grass, leaving the remaining half runway of bitumen surface.
Below you'll find a few screenshots. One of which is a render of the main Canterbury Aero Club hanger, the rest are the photo-real scenery. I have nearly completed the annotation for it too. Another bonus is I occasionally fly out of here in real life, which means getting reference photo's and designing the airport should not be too hard.
A few of you also know I'm working on Palmerston North, don't fear. Palmerston North is still in the works. Considering Palmerston North is my first project, I thought I'd break away and try a smaller airport just to make sure I fully understand the concepts of scenery design.
Cheers.
