• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

What Support packs are now needed for SDK?

I have installed FSX in the following order;

FSX Deluxe

FSX Acceleration

FSX SDK (from FSX Deluxe DVD 1)

On the FSInsider.com page for SDK Update SP1A it says;

<<This update to the Software Development Kit (SDK) for Flight Simulator X includes improvements to almost all aspects of the SDK shipped in the Deluxe version. Please note that this update requires the installation of the original SDK from the Deluxe version of FSX.

Click here to download (166MB). >>

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Then on SDK -SP2 Update it says;

<<This update includes the changes to the FSX Software Development Kit required for those developers who have installed FSX Service Pack 2.

IMPORTANT: If you have already installed Flight Simulator X: Acceleration expansion pack, do not install the SDK Update for Service Pack 2.

Should I just install SP1A, reinstall FSX Accelerator or start all over again
this time putting SDK original before FSX Acceleration?

TIA

There is a separate install for the SDK on the Accel dvd. If you have installed the Accel Pack then just install the Accel version of the SDK. This, of course, assumes that you have at least the RTM SDK already installed.

OK I think I know what to do, now that scruffyduck has told me about FSX X SDK.

On FSX X DVD in the SDK folder, there are installers for both SP1A and SP2(sdk.msi 217mb file).

SP2 appears to be the FSX X SDK and will only run once SP1A has been installed.

SP1A will uninstall any earlier SDK files.

Nope, I don't think you need it as well. Although I just installed SDK RTM - SDK SP1A - SDK Acceleration on my PC to be sure :). But it should not be needed.

Yes, on the disk you find sdk.msi (which is the Acceleration SDK (similar to the SP2 one that you don't need when you have Acceleration). And also the SDK SP1A in case that is needed to install. And to install SP1A you need the RTM installed again to make things easy :).
