• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Where is the FS2002 gamepack?

I am having trouble finding the gamepack on the fs2002 pro disks.
I found in disk 2 a gmax.cab. I opened it and found a flightsim folder.
However the folder that says gamepack only has 1 file called "imagetool.exe"
There is another folder that says plugins and that has "FSModelEXP.dle" and "Makemdl.exe". There is also a gmax.ini on the flightsim folder, however, there is no gmaxe. exe to run the fs2002 gamepack, I only see those 3 files related to fs. I have not found anything related to gmax on disk 1 which is apparently where it is supposed to be. Please help.

I didn´t use the FS2002 gamepack since ModelConverterX has the feature that converts a ground poly so it doesn´t flicker any more.
So if this is your intention, it makes life much easier making the ground polys with Gmax and the FSX gamepack and than use the wizard of MCX to convert it.

Don´t know, if there is any other reason using the old FS2002 gamepack.
But perhaps you need it for a different purpose?!

I need it in order to follow the the sim pilot ground polygon tutorial, otherwise I will be lost. If you can provide a tutorial on how to use the model converter x program to import stuff to FS using the fsx gamepack, then I would appreciate it if you could prove the link. :)

Please can you explain a little how it is, I'm very limited learning with the video tutorials.,
Btw a question, this method could be applied to sloped runways ?, I see a it as improbable.

You do the same way you do ground poly, Polygon, lofting, mapping etc.
Then you export the thing you want by any game pack, Fsx or FS2004.
You wil get mdl.
Use ground polygon wizard in ModelConverterX (latest release) and choose mdl that you just exported. Choose the layers for each texture in the number of 4, 8, 12 ,16 ,20 .... Then export it right to your Addon Scenery/...Your Project.../Scenery folder.
Then Ground poly is yours. No need to tweak code, move files. It works great. Try it.

Thanks for the answer, I am making a sloped runway and I thought the flickering would be lesser (very naive here), so I must apply ground poly wizard, by what you say all polygons must be filtered, I mean runway, lofting for the lines (numbers, taxilines, etc), must be treated with polygon wizard, interesting.

It support just only flat ground poly. If you have other poly that is not lying flat on the ground, it will be filtered out.
I tried that with my 3d grass and it wrecked up my grass. Even I check out the check box "filter out non ground poly".

Some one understood this statement, I don't know what mean

http://www.scenerydesign.org/latest-release/latest_development_releases_package.zip

------

You don't have to use the fs2004 gamepack. If you use model converter x, you can use the fsx gamepack, save the model as a .mdl from Gmax and use the ground polygon wizard in model converter x to convert the .mdl file into a .bgl.

You can download model converter x from here
http://www.scenerydesign.org/latest-release/latest_development_releases_package.zip

and you can learn to use it using this video.

Yes, but I asked because Mcx when trying to make the Ground poly, ask me for the Fs2004 path and fail to export.
Anyway I will get problems trying to convert a sloped runway, which I think is imposible. nothing is perfect

http://www.scasm.de/dat/sca296.zip

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=4&id=4465

The ony problem is the sloped runways and ground polygon wizard. but all is working "more or less" thanks
