• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Why is the polygon and rectangle following the camera`?

Hi!! I have had a confusing problem when I have created a polygon and rectangle,
First I ceate and doubleclick the polygon (or create the rectangle.
My camera is in maybe 45 degrees angel and I click all points and finally doubleclick to finalize
Looks good but then when I goes back- the polygon also moves with the camera.
Whatever I do - the polygon is following the camera.
Is it a common behaviour? Is it something I have missed?
It seems that the polygon is saved in the current position - when I save the scenery - but in was not in the position that
I initial created it. Just the position it was in when I saved it - moved with the camera.
Confusing. Is it I that is totally of my mind or?

Here is an example on what I means above.

Camerapos_1.png

This is a polygon for the Gravel in front of the building. The Gravel is not following the poligon,

When I added the texture I drag the polygon-handles so It almost fit the house in the camera view.

Camerapos_2.png

This shows fully clear that the polygon seems to "float" over the ground and is not fixed to the position that I want it to be.

Here is a additional from the a little bit from the other side of the building.

Thx for any answer why this is occuring.

Here is an example of polygons that are fixed to the ground as I want to.
All three polygons below is fixed as you can see.

NonFloatingPolygon_1.png

From North.

4 polygons is there in fixed position.
2 with asphalt and 2 with gravel.

NonFloatingPolygon_2.png

Here is a view from south of the same polygons filled with different textures
But they stay in the same positions.

NonFloatingPolygon_3.png

Unlike this floating polygon. No difference in the properties.

One thing that differs is that this polygon for sure overlaps other polygons. Can this affect?
I have in this picture also a polygon below with same texture . This polygon is fixed and also a round polygon in the middle that also is floating.
I think maybe all of this overlaps each other somehow.

Hi - I found the reason for this behaviour.
It was the polygon that was to low. I could finally after testing with polygons in another test-project
I discover that if the polygon is below the ground - it is still visible but also that this effect that I describe occur.
It was a little difficult to see But when I move the camera in at the ground - i finally find out that the polygon was below the ground.

When I moved it up in Z - the polygon was fixed in position again.
