• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

wind ground heading

hi

i have tried to make an animation with the wind ground heading condition (0C74h), but it doesn't work ??? i've made a test by the nav 2 variable, and it works... can anybody help me???

thanks

did you use the right min max variables...meaning in hex or dec form? Also for tweaked objects to react to wind direction, you need to objects in your scene that rotate to wind...the second could be placed in a hanger or somewhere not visible.

Dave

Or place two in exactly the same spot. I use this trick with Scenery Maker to get a windsock to react to the wind. On the other hand if you have two separate windsocks (or other wind dependent effects) in the scenery then that should do it. What I don't know is what the maximum distance is between wind sensitive objects (or other conditions) before they stop 'supporting' each other

i've made a control tower with a schield that indicates the runway in use (01 - 19). A part of the schield has the number 09 and the other has the number 1, the second part is rotating and give once 01 and once 19... i've get the condition wind ground heading between 100 and 280 degrees. i've found a thread where they tell the value is from 0 to 32767, i've tried it with that but it don't work too. i will try it with hex value... :banghead:

Hi,

You will certainly have to scale the value, it is either 0 to 32767 or 0 to 65535, I can't remember which one it was at the moment. But the range is certainly not 0 to 360.

Also, as already suggested in this thread, you will have to place at least two objects that interact with the wind on your screen (not in the scenery, they must be on the screen at the same moment). Else the wind condition will not work.

You must place at least two objects that interact with the wind and they must also both be visible on your screen. Else the wind direction variable does not work correct.

what i am trying to do is a box that is rotating of 180 degrees when the wind direction is between 100 and 280 degrees. can you explain how to do that?

thanks

When you only place that one box, the wind condition will never work. So you will either have to place a second copy of that box somewhere (hidden in a building for example) or place another object that also interacts with the wind, for example a windsock.

must the object have a special name (like tick18_01) to work? and must the second box be attached to the first? how can i do to insert a windsock in gmax? because i've a winsock in my scene. (i'm using scenegenx to place my objects, it use directly the mdl objet).

No, no special name is needed. But you must place two version of the object in FS, not in GMax. So if you have made a windsock for example, you need to place two examples of the GMax object with SceneGenX. Placing two in GMax doesn't help.
