• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Problem between ADE and AFX

Hallo,
I feel some wrong Date of AFX Date AFCAD, change not 100% Date to ADE.
I see by AFX (Flight1) Date, see picture

orginal Date of AFX (Tropicsim SAEZ 2013)

AFX
Flatten polygon

ADE open date from AFX Date:
Apron, Surface: Cement

not some between Flatten and Apron

I change little Parking as radius, save it. (Work with ADE)
change to..

It is problem..! How fix it??? How change from "Flatten polygon" AFX to real ADE, too???

regard
Sebastian

Do not draw an Apron to flatten things. Use the button with a green irregular polygon on it to create a polygon with the Flatten attribute.

Hope this helps,

Hi all,
Hope this is where to post this... I just purchased the upgrade for TropicalSim (2016) SAEZ. Everything is fine after installation, however after I change the gate size/airline codes using ADE, I compile, and all of my grass textures go missing ( looks like the picture a couple of posts above). Just to confirm, I changed nothing in the airport other then the parking/gates. Where did I go wrong??

probably when you compiled the bgl
if the file you started with was created by AFX and now you are using ADE two different compilers have been used
AFX use its own compiler which does not follow the SDK rules that ADE uses when the file gets compiled, so problems can arise when this happens
sometimes it's best to use the utility the airport started with.........

Ok, thanks! I'll try to find a copy of AFX, and use that for this modification..

AFX does not compile proper flattens - these are actually terrain elements compiled by Shp2Vec and later. I think AFX 'fakes' flattens either using an apron of some sort of perhaps even a library object. These need to be replaced in ADE with a proper terrain poly set to flatten.

Thanks for the reply, although much of it is greek to me. Are you saying recompiling the airport with AFX will not work either? I haven't found a copy of AFX yet to try it.

Why not do what we suggested above? Replace the apron with a flatten polygon.

Yep - replacing an apron with a flatten is a whole lot easier than writing approach code!

Hello there,
Having used your neatly programme for more than 6 years, recently I began to face problems after compiling a custom-made airport.
Let me clarify: I am building a new airport which is under construction right now. I am almost finished with it, only few details pending to be added. To access every component I have in the airport I try to use the 'list' menu and the programme crashes. For more than 15 times, whenever I wanted to add comm frequencies through list menu it crashed unexceptionally. It is not only to do with the comms but also anything on the list menu.
BGL compiling works, no problem with that. After I add the scenery on FSX and choose the mentioned airport to check and observe, this time FSX itself crashes. It is the first time I am encountering such a strange 'problem'.
PS: I am using the latest released version of ADEx (I guess v1.70) and FSX SE. But I don't think the issue is related to the versions. There is something odd in this case. I can send you my file for a close inspection if you don't mind taking a look at.
Cheers.

If the box is red in the lower left corner click it and fix the problem.

It sometimes means there is an illegal character in the name of one of the comm frequencies. If you have ProKey go to Tools Raw Data View and re-type all the names and such.

Actually the programme doesn't let me input any comms, let alone the illegal characters. I will see if there is any red box as you mention

Okay, finally I found the issue. It was due to the decimal separator set as comma. I change it to dot (point) and ADEx does not crash.
