• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX/P3D : Abidjan Airport (DIAP) Ivory Coast

Hi Alex,

Great work and thankyou very much for sharing your efforts with the community. It really looks great.

I will second David's recommendation of QGIS. It's a very handy freeware GIS tool which can be used for imagery, shapefiles and much more.

I never run the tool automatically and always check the list. I even check the orbx files manually and deactivate them if needed. But yes, I wasn't aware of the DELETE_IF_ORBX file and will have a look later!

One word on my first impression: It looks very nice! The satellite image is huge and honestly I am not quite sure, how you ever want to fill it with autogen (manually). I checked the Openstreetmap data and it also is only very limited. Have you used so far what is available? it might be a good start. Another thing I would consider is to make the area a little smaller and fill this area completely with Autogen.

Hi David,

Just FYI,

I just downloaded and installed the scenery tonight. I didn't alter any files including the DELETE_IF_ORBX files. I ran the AEC auto config tool, and DIAP ended up at the top of the "Disabled" list. The airport appeared fine in my sim (P3DV4.3).

Cheers,

Hello all !

This is the problem, the "DELETE_IF_ORBX.bgl" is actually a file made to correct the default altitude of our simulators, but orbx already corrected it with their add-ons, so there is some issue between those 2 games corrections.

Yes I already used Openstreetmap but it do not complete the entire area, the datas are very poor but it helped me a bit, from this I placed all buildings and trees one by one with annotator !

That's perfect, I don't use orbx or AEC so I never experimented those things, but that's great if the scenery work with.

About QGIS, that's the same problem than with openstreetmap, datas are very poor in those regions ...

Yeah, QGIS is only a program to process the data, but you need to find the data from another source for it to process. I think it does have some type of download feature built in, but I have never used that.

I usually get my shapefiles from Geofabrik, but their data is derived from Open Street Map. It might be worth a try anyway:

ivory-coast-latest-free.shp.zip

http://download.geofabrik.de/africa/ivory-coast.html

I would suggest to do an internet search for "shapefiles for Côte d'Ivoire" and similar searches. With finding shapefile data it is often helpful to be very specific in your searches.

The scenery already looks great as it is. ;)

Cheers,

Thank you !
I'll work on it to see how to convert those datas onto autogen files, I don't use to use this format :scratchch

And about this "DELETE_IF_ORBX", my mistake, for the 0.9 I renamed it by error "FLATTEN.BGL" because I actually remade it for the new phootoground upgrade and I forgot to rename this one.

I'm not sure which format ScenProc uses, but you can find a number of different formats on Geofabrik. I have never actually used data for autogen , but have used it for coastlines and water bodies.

Scenproc use .osm, but it’s converted by myself because Openstreetmap exportation give a file called «map » but without format extension, i have to add the .osm to convert it.

Interresting soft if it’s used for coastline too :scratchch

Hi Alex,

There were also osm format files available with the same data in the Geofabrik downloads, I think on the same page I linked above. I had a feeling ScenProc could use shapefiles too, but I could be wrong.

Re QGIS, yes it is a very powerful tool, with many features I have never used yet. I have mainly used it to convert, reproject, and merge aerial imagery, to view, separate, merge, and crop shapefile data, and also to merge shapefile data with imagery to create semi automated water masks.

More info on the watermasks can be found here:

Hi Alex,

great city scenery update! I love it. Good work. In my case 2 roof textures seemed to be missing. Or are they only dark and I do not get it? Please have a look on my pic.
And keep on with the good work. And please do not forget to complete the airport as well.

Cheers
Fabian

Hi !

@fabian, i didn’t saw that before, i’ll tell you if it’s normal or not, but if you installed correctly the scenery, it could be my fault !

Hi Alex,
yes, I think I have installed your scenery correctly. I checked it several times.
Please have a look at your roof textures. I like your scenery, great job.

Cheers
Fabian
