• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ADE Runway Layers

HI!

Is it possible to somehow move the runway layer lower than 77 to be able to place a visible ground poly over it?

Thanks in advance,

All ground polys (no matter their layer number) will display above all runways (no matter their layer number).

And that layer number 77 is only for use in the ADE display - it has no effect in the sim.

Sorry to intrude on your convo...

Is this true for Taxiways as well?
Just wanted to know, since I plan to add the Pierce Co and compass logo to 1S0 (KPLU) main taxiway.

Thanks for the insight, Tom

Hi,

Yes, all airport pavement types placed by ADE will be covered by ground polygons. AFAIK only buildings and other 3D objects will be on top. Even ADE lights are covered up.

ADE drawing layers try to mimic what you see in the sim in terms of what overlays what, However as Tom says ground polys go on top of any facilities elements

Ok, I understand now. This must be why certain textures (cement vs. asphalt) of an apron take "layer precedence" over other textures?
For example, I created a fueling apron made of concrete, and butted it up against an asphalt aircraft parking apron. When I got to the part of the edges of each texture meeting up to the other one, I was able to overlay one texture with the other (not sure if it was asphalt over cement or vise versa). This helped alleviate the look of surface texture separation "cracks /gaps".

It's asphalt over cement. When I want cement to overlay asphalt I use Macadam - looks like cement but lays on top of asphalt.
