• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    I’m not sure, but you may have used a lot of vertices in some ground polygons? Some of those are perhaps being skipped. If the airport looks OK I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

    If you don’t know where the registry is, you probably shouldn’t deal with it. It’s how your operating system keeps track of all the programs on your computer. You can do a Google search to learn more.

    Glad you found it. Whenever you change the name or the altitude of a default airport in ADE, it creates that ALT BGL file. That’s necessary to override some of the default settings.

    You probably have an old version of the BGL file hiding in one of your scenery folders. Do a search of your FS folder. Another possibility is that you have FSX in a Program Files folder and Windows has created another copy of the file in a protected folder after you tried to delete it.

    Airports must be flat in FSX. The only way to create an FS helipad at a different elevation is to create a separate airport at the new altitude. Since this doesn’t probably involve AI aircraft, you could just create something visual, not part of ADE. Something like a ground polygon using MCX, etc.

    That can mean that the object is actually in FS9 format. In that case, the solid colors turn black in FSX and later Sims. You could try exporting it into FSX or P3D format?

    There could be several reasons, here are two possibilities. If the texture is tiled in any way, it cannot be combined. Sometimes this can be even an accidental wrap around mapping of a single texture. Incompatible texture types would not be able to be combined?

    As far as I know FS9 does not take any great advantage of reduced drawcalls. That became much more important with FSX. Of course it’s always a good idea to reduce the overall texture load, but I’ve never seen any real data that the number of textures make a huge difference to FS9.

    Did you enter the path to the modeldef.xml file in MCX Options? That file is found in the P3D SDK.
