• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

3dsMax 2019 Material Problems

Hello folks,

i have a little problem, as you can see in the pictures. When i start 3dMax 19, i have Flighsim material available in the Material Editor.... if i load my project, it's gone...

Did I do something wrong during the installation? For me doesn't recognize it automatically after i installed the SDK, so i added everything manually. :)

What can i put in "scripts" in the folder of 3ds everything from SDK? I only added 2 folders FlightsimManager and Material because there are a lot of pyton scripts in between in the SDK.

Did you change the renderer to something else than Arnold?
I think Arnold has to be the active renderer for the flightsim material to show up.
Other than that just merge an object from one of the sample aircraft with your scene and pick it's material with the the pipette.

Renderer: Scanline = Flightsim available
With Arnold = not available 😅 funny, does the render make a difference for FS2020?

Not for FS, but for MAX.
Only those materials show up in the material editor's selection list that are compatible with the active renderer.

ok, i'm a bit confused. 😅

do i really need arnold as a render with Flightsim-Materials?
because for me, the Flightsim-Material only appears on Scanline and Quicksilver.

i have 3dsMax not so long :)
