• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Available via the online updater. Help> Check for Updates. As usual downlad the package for the Application and copy the files into your 0.40 installation folder. You may want to make copies of Airport Design Editor.exe and jmFlightSimLib.dll first.

This is a bug fix release that should deal with the items below:

Fixed
- Problem with runway link not always picking up runway number
- Tab order in Property dialogs
- Default actions on Dialogs - Enter for OK and Esc for Cancel
- Elements cannot be added or edited until there is an airport present
- Canceling the opening of a new Bgl file no longer removes the existing loaded airport.
- Delete now works only on the selected item
- Delete Key should now reliably delete the selected object
- Bug that changed BglComp and FSX Folders even when Canceled out
- Crash when the FSX Folder Option does not point to a valid FSX Install

Updated
- Vehicle paths now have a surface and the width of a new path defaults to 7.62m irrespective of the default width setting. Note this is partially implemented
- Open and Save XML have been removed. This version is intended to operate only with the Bgl format (See Below)
- Selected Aprons now use the selected color as well as displaying vertexes and edges
- Changed behavior when deleting one of last two nodes in fence or edgelights - now the element is deleted rather than getting an error message
- Open and Save Bgl changed to Open and Save User Airport
- Changed behavior when deleting one of last three nodes in apron. Now the element is deleted rather than getting and error message

Added
Aprons can now be closed by clicking the first vertex

IMPORTANT
Loading and saving to XML is no longer available in this build. This is for a number of reasons. If you wish to introduce XML files into this version of ADE then you will need to compile them first. SDE TestApp can do this, alternatively you can just drop them onto BglComp.

Please test to ensure that the above bugs are indeed fixed. Also report any new ones found.

NOT FIXED
The bug relating to scrambled taxi links - I recignize that it is there somewhere but I can't find it. If you still see this bug in this build then please re-report it..

Thanks for your patience :)

My "pleasure" ...:)

Ah :o It is fixed but I forgot to put the updated colorSettings file into the update package....... I will put it in the next build

Wow what happened there? It seems as your response took over my editing...and mixed up our two reply's ...?

My fault - as a moderator I can edit any post and I added my reply to yours

OK, did you catch that with the filename? Or did that vanish into cyberspace?

OK, I'll try a again:

I like the "BGL-only"-style, it suits me well.

I haven't been trying out the full potential yet, but it seemed very stable.

One thing though: When you save your BGL, it seems as though is defaults into a given name? (If memory serves me well) something like <ICAO-code>_AFX.bgl or the like....

I would like to have my bgl's named differently, for example: ADE_EKSL_Laeso.blg or EKLS_ADE.BGL, or AFX_EKSL.bgl or what ever. Is it possible to select you own naming convention?

I've renamed the file afterwords manually, but I would prefer some kind of "preferences in filename-format" if you can see what I mean?

Hi Dan

I agree - I need to look at the naming convention - it is not really that well set up yet. There is a view on standardization - ICAO_AFX_INITIALS_OTHER

whenere initials are the designers and other is a comment - the General tab of Settings has fields to set those but it is not really very well developed - I will add it to the list to improve that

I did too. But then I got thinking (a dangerous thing for a pilot who isn't a programmer). Recently I've been converting FS9 AFCAD bgls into xml to import into ADE to modify. Now, with only the ability to open bgl files I'm a bit scuppered on that. :(

Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to convert modified FS9 AFCADs into ADE format?

Just open the AFCAD file in ADE :) it is a Bgl file you do not need to convert them ADE does all that

Wow, I didn't realise that Jon. I'll give it a try when I get home, with this facility it should make porting FS9 aifield sceneries to FSX much easier.

Mrs. Caine is going to be really impressed now ;)

... ICAO_AFX_INITIALS_OTHER ...

Thing is, if you use AFX_ICAO_OTHER_(INITIALS) they would all sort very nicely in the explorer.

Don't really see the use for Initials, other than you could then see more or less who had "dunnit" but not really a useful information whereas:

the AFX indicates it's a FSX-style "afcad"
the ICAO obviously which airport
the "Other" could be the "Christian name" of the airport....but maybe optional...
INITIALS... hm.... doesn't do it for me, but I'm not making program either :)

ADE uses the SDE engine and that can read both FS9 and FSX scenery files and airport information but only compile to FSX. All the power of SDE is actually in ADE but not all of it is used. SDE handles anything that is compiled using BglComp

Customer choice is King - let me see how we end up but it won't be for a couple of builds so please bear with me

I'll bear with you as long as it takes, you are really contributing to the community here....

Dan, there is a discussion on naming conventions at http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5211
