• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ADE First Build

Hi George - I will check out why that is not working...
Same resizing problem for me. Depending on my settings (dualview) the "maximize" only maximizes to the main monitor, not on both.

Seems to be a problem with dual monitor configurations.

Everything else looks really good, I hope, that a new version will be available soon, to do some tests in changing and/or creating airport layouts.

In any case a big THANKS for this :)

I'm still looking at the re-sizing problem. Be a couple more builds before editing will be in place :)

EDIT

OK the re-size problem is partially fixed. It is now possible to resize the window by dragging the edges of the window. Note this does not change the size of the airport display

Looking GREAT !!!

I'm not seeing the color differences - but having 'color deficient vision' is what is keeping me out a cockpit in the real world.

The only "Biggie" on my list is the pan / zoom function.

I'd vastly prefer the arrow keys control pan like AFCAD, and the mouse scroll wheel, or the "-" "+" keys control the zoom.

You will need the click and hold function of the mouse buttons for editing functionality.

But FANTASTIC !!!!

Thanks Reggie. I expect tha pan and zoom will be changed in a build sometime next week. I plan to change it to the AFCAD style (If I can figure that out ;) ). So may not be changed fot the next build but..........

Hi

How can I get this to work on Vista 64? The program doesn't start up, just like SDE. I know there is something with Microsoft's dotNET 2.0, but I'm not able to install this on Vista 64, because it's already installed. Or I'm looking to the wrong program.

As far as I know these programs should now work on 64bit operating systems. The latest version of each is targetted at the x86 platform. I have not had reports of problems with recent versions of SDE applications on 64bit Vista.

Could you tell me what happens when you try to run them please?

dotNET 2.0 should be installed with Vista and that is what SDE based programs need.

When I run the program, a window pop's up to say that "the program has stop working". Same problem with SDE. B.T.W. this also happens in Windows XP 64.

This is the error in Problem reports and solution:

Hi Jon,

ADE doesn't work on 64bit Vista, neither does the latest Bgl2XmlGUI. Your previous version dated 01/04/2007 does stilll work.

Hi Jon

Great work. They both work now in Vista 64.

Thanks and I'm looking forward to try out ADE.

Keep up the good work,

Marcel

Thanks Marcel

Mea Culpa - I had a different setting for the target operating system between the development build and the release build :o I have hopefully gotten them the same now.

ADE will be fixed for the next build :)

Works fine in Vista 32bit Jon
just get a "airportlist" error when i run scan again, but the tree is there, might be useful if one could double click the selected airport in the tree to open it, and i can bring up airports in both BGL and XML, not seen to many colours tho, only concrete and asphalt just white taxiways, vehicle paths, rwy centreline, and green gates,
any changes i make in XML doesn't update in the airport list (why i ran scan again) not sure if it's supposed to do this, but does when i take another look at the BGL and XML........ its looking good :)

My test

Hi, Jon

I scanned the airports, as in SDE, and it´s ok. For the airports I have modified I can see two versions. I really do not remember if this happens in AFCAD2, too (excuse me, but that old tool will be the reference for some time).

With regards to the sign for the parking type (a circle), a thin centered cross (+) would be very useful for alignment in both perpendicular directions.

For next version, I ask if it´s possible to show up the coordinates grid and a zoom function.

If it´s not very hard to implement, an optional mouse cursor made by two perpendiculars lines can help drawing.

People say AFCAD was created to help AI traffic and evoluted to turn a drawing tool. I suppose your ADE is born to be a useful drawing tool, with some functions to help the end user to accomplish his/her work.

Kind regards,

José

That dialog is temporary - copied from SDE TestApp. I will make changes in it. I will check out the error you mention.

The ADE you have will only give white taxiways. The colors are in the next build.

Not sure what you mean Ray?

Yes AFCAD2 will show both the stock airport and any modified ones. It is not in the tree in AFCAD though but in the dialog next to the tree

Added to the list :)

For next version, I ask if it´s possible to show up the coordinates grid and a zoom function.

Changes to the way things are Zoomed and panned are in progress. The Grid is on the list :)

I will add that to the list

Hi Jon
i'll try another explanation, :)
ADE collected the few FSX airports i had modified (still not sure how it collected them as they're in my document folder) so i now have a tree,
if i open one of these airports to view, shows up ok, i then close ADE, if i now add/make futher modifications, lets say i add another gate in the XML file for this airport, if i then open ADE again, would it then show the modification i just made?...... i found it did not show the modification, so i was wondering, was it supposed to show the new modification, or do i collect the airports again? :)
Ray

In the airport list ADE will only collect airport information from either the default scenery folder or Addon Scenery. If you are changing something in a document folder and not compiling it into the Addon Scenery Folder then ADE will get the old one it found. If you are putting the re-compiled XML into the Addon Scenery Folder and the bgl file has the same name then it should open the updated version. If it isn't then let me know.

If you open the Bgl or Xml directly from the ADE File menu (rather than going through the Open Airport route) then updates should show since ADE reads the data each time it is loaded. I know this is working because I am using AFCAD to modify a test airport which is then read by ADE - that way I can tell if ADE is reading stuff correctly or not.

Hi Jon
i still see no update
i modified Changi WSSS, placed the compiled bgl into the FSX/addon scenery/scenery folder, i then opened ADE Airportlist, i have the tree and it was not there with the others in the list which are in the same folder, if i click "scan" this error appears

"AirportList"
Unhandled exception has occurred in your aplication. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Could not find a path "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\scenery\scenery'.

i can find it by using the BGL, then search to the correct FSX folder, its there in the correct folder along with the others

hope this helps Jon :)

Ray

Can you please tell me which folder you set for the FS Folder? It has to be the main FS Folder and not the Addon Folder. Also if you add a new airport to the Addon Folder you will need to scan again to get it to show up in the airport list

Hi Jon
as usual it's me
i made a copy of my addon folder placed it on my desktop, directed ADE to it and its ok
what i was doing was clicking scan, before, selecting airportlist:tapedshut
so thanks for your patience here,
I have your new version, and it collected WSSS this time :)
will now direct it to the correct FSX path
thanks
Ray
