Hello Jon, Everyone....
I am using the current version of ADE and am having a problem with the import from bgl /xml function. Specifically importing an exclude bgl/xml into my airport project. Often the various freeware authors will include separate exclude bgl files with their airport projects vs including them within the ADE file itself. When modifying these airports (with permission) it is helpful to see these excludes, their positions, and what the original author intended to exclude to begin with.
This was easily accomplished through the "Import from Bgl " function, as well as the "Import from xml " function if the exclude or other info was in the xml format. This is very helpful when dealing with FS9 airports when converting to FSX. With the last two releases of ADE this operation is ignored and no exclude data is imported into the ADE project.
Today I was working with a freeware FS9 version of Yellowknife CYZF. The scenery contains 7 separate exclude bgl files. I again attempted to import the exclude with no luck. I de-compiled the bgl file into a xml file and that was ignored by ADE. I compiled the xml into a FSX bgl and that was also ignored by ADE.
Just to make sure I was not imagining what I used to do with previous versions of ADE, I located an older ADE version 1.55 and installed the software on a separate HD. I loaded up the same airport file I was working with and was able to import the exclude bgl's/xml without any problem. ADE performed just as I remembered in the past.
I should note the newer versions of ADE seem to have no problem importing a library object bgl for instance. Is there a reason importing an exclude bgl/xml is no longer possible with the newer versions of ADE?? Is this perhaps a pro key feature, or is there some option setting I have ignored or set incorrectly??
If this is how ADE is going to operate now, how do you get the exclude placed correctly. You can take the location coordinates from the xml file and create a new exclude. But there is no way to manually set the lat/lon coordinates as in the "Set by Drag" feature for library objects that I know of. Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Rob
