• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Airport Design Editor Version 1.61.5210

Hi Jon

Experienced weird issue with saving.

I copied 'ad3' file to a new folder and then double clicked on it to open it in the ADE.
Then worked for like one hour and pressed either 'Save' or Ctrl+S every five minutes.
Next day I opened this file and there was no change from previous day saved.

I tried to reproduce it and was able to get again the same issue.
What helped was to save this file at least once with 'Save As' - then it looks okay.

This way I did is probably not very common use case, but could you please try to reproduce this issue?

Thanks,
Premek

Double clicking on an ade3 file to open it usually does not work. Can you please try opening the file using File > Open Airport from inside ADE and see if the same problem can still be replicated?

Weird maybe but we removed the association between ad3 and ADE some time back - there is a problem with a third party component that I cannot get resolved. I guess you may have the association based on an older version of ADE that is still active. I am interested that you do not report a problem with licenses for SmartGrid or some other component though.

With "Parking and Taxiways" unchecked, it is still drawing the textures:

The textures are obscuring small scenery objects.

Another problem. It is not possible to select/drag small objects, one can select them only with rubber-band.

I was able to select it only by finding it in Lists->Scenery Objects, edit to increase the scale, drag then reduce the scale.

George - that is the whole point. The problem I thought we had was that junctions got drawn when the links were parking or apron. I have never had it on my list to hide taxiways entirely - is that what you have been asking for? The purpose of hiding taxiways and parking is to show all the markings etc without the lines and circles that represent the network.

As for small objects I am very aware of that and am working on a proximity system for small objects that allow easier selection - it will probably be some sort of halo..................

Ah, okay then - fair enough. File association definitely persisted from past...

Didn't get any kind of other issues.

I would prefer it if nothing associated with apron paths or taxiways were drawn. I usually use aprons for the taxiways and GP lines for the markings.

Having said that, the example above is where I had used a disconnected taxiway rather than a set of aprons to cover the ground textures.

George I will look at an option to turn off surfaces when the taxi network is turned off.

Ah OK Drew.

Hi Jon

Just want to confirm when I use File\Open everything works as expected.

Thanks,
Premek
