• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Blender 2.70, Blender2FSX Tools (Video Tutorials)

Hi Everyone!

Here is video21:

((((I have just learnt that you do not need too apply a .dds file in FSX for a vc panel))))

Thank you very much Mr. Bill Leaming(n4gix) for this information!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Krispy1001 :)

Hi Krispy!

As always, nice video you have put up there... And I will never say enough how big of an addition to the toolset your videos are. Thank you ;)

Cheers...
PS. that wheel really is a tight fit.:duck:

Hi Capt_X!

Thank you!

And I can not thank you enough for making the Blender2FSX Toolset.

Yes, you are very correct the wheel just fits in the wheel well. The blueprints that I found on the internet for the Mosquito was not drawn to scale. That is why I have not put it out as free ware yet. I am going to have to re-make the model completely. But I will not do that until I have completed the Jodel-D112 that I am working on.

And again thank you very much Capt_X for your Blender2FSX Toolset.

Your Friend, Krispy1001 :)

Hi,

first a warm thanks to Capt_X for the Toolset, krispy1001 for the superb Video tutorials and dutcheeseblend for the inspiration.
After a long time without fsx, I found new motivation to learn a bit in FS developement. I had never tried to make an aircraft, now with the toolset and your help, perhaps I can do it.
I want to try the Klemm 35 Spezial. I fly this airplane in real life, so I have access to everything I could need ;).

I'm still at the very beginning (the model is a first training set) and have a problem where I'm stuck.
The left wing is mirrored from the right.

Unfortunately, fsx displays nothing, probably because the texture is now inside.
Clicking double sided in the FSX Material Params works, but then the shadow side is on the top of the wing.

Thanks in advance

Steffsim

Hi and welcome! Nice to see more guys in our community!

Just press Ctrl N, or Ctrl Shift N, to flip the normals in the right direction (that is the outside orientation of a face/tri). Consider switching on Backface Culling, since Blender default displays faces with two sides. Find Backface Culling in the N toolbar, Shading, Backface Culling check on.

Good luck!

Ah, and the fun thing about mirroring objects in Blender: normals will be inverted either. So Steffsim, you mentioned the cause of the problem in your question already ;) I hope to see more from you soon!

Krispy,
I'm watching your videos and making notes to add to the already huge list of shortcuts and tips that make Blender fun and easy to use. Not easy to work with in the beginning because it's quite different than gMax and 3ds Max but when you overcome the changes, you can't help but love this wonderful tool. I'd like to make a suggestion you might try? In video #2 you mention backing up your files and how you name them. Try this, start your first blender file with a number, I make my file name something like aircraftname-xyz.001. Now to make progressive backups hit F2 (save as), the numpad + key (to raise the file number by one), and Enter key (to save or complete the process) you will have added a new file with a new filename one number higher than your last saved file. You can then go back and rename the file adding a note to the previous file to be more descriptive about that file. Say you added the wing to the model, your previous file you might add the note 'fuselage only'. Now your file would read, aircraftname-xyz.001-fuselage only. When you save the wing addition you can then name that file aircraftname-xyz.002-wing added. Get it?

Like all modern Windows files you can use up to 255 characters in your file name although huge file names are a pain to read. You'll soon discover your own coding for your files and the easy way to numerically number them will insure plenty of backup opportunities. I would also recommend that you backup OFTEN. Blender does NOT save the file if you forget and just exit the program. Yes, you can recover the previous file during the open process but only if you go immediately to that file and don't work on any other models. I am usually listening to music while I model and I make it a habit to save the file each time the song changes. Yes, you end up with a ton of files but isn't that better than losing a couple hours work when you get to concentrating on the fun of modeling and forget to save?

You also click the 'initialize toolset' with each video. It's only required the first time you use the tools. It assures that Blender can find the location of your FSX SDK installation. After you have clicked it the first time, I assume you never altered the install location therefore it's merely a redundant keystroke.

Hi Rickster1146!

Yes, that is a very good way to make backups!;)

Thank you very much!

Krispy1001:)

I'm one of those guys who have divorced from gMax and decided to marry with Blender! I would like to thank you as well for these tutorials.

Hi Everyone!

I am sorry that I have not made a new video lately! With the problems that I am having, I am not felling adequate to make any videos until I can figure out this problem. As soon as I find out why I am having the issue using 2D panels with objects that have mouse rects applied; I will make a video show what not to do or what to do.

If anyone knows what I may be doing wrong please let me know.

Thank you everyone for all the help in the past and for all future help.

Sincerely, Krispy1001:)
