• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Centre Lines

OK I have found it. Reverse the direction of the short link running back to the end of the runway. Direction does matter it seems and FSX is trying to draw the curve the wrong way and there is not enough space to do it.

To reverse that link select it and then right click and select reverse direction. The direction arrow for that section needs to point towards the end of the runway while the main link points towards the other end.

Jon sorry to be a pain but it is not working for me.
I have reversed the direction of the short link as per your instuction.
You have the same bgl as me so it can't be something else I've done [or not]

Richard

This is what I am getting. Try placing a node in the main runway link a little way down the runway and see if that helps. I am currently using an asphalt surface for the taxiway, it is 18m wide and has markings on both edges. The runway also has a center line. Might not be what you want but we can work back from there if you can get it working

This is my ade file that compiles and gives the center line here. The other thing to be aware of is that none of your parking spots are connected to the taxi network and your Starts relate to non existent runways. This does not affect the center line drawing problem but will stop the airport working as expected. You might want to run the fault finder. These are not fixed in the attached file

Well yours worked fine Jon.
Mine doesn't so I am now at a lose as to what to do.
I even changed the last taxi link from grass to tarmac but that made no difference.
I'm getting frustrated now.

It may or may not make you feel better to know that it has now stopped working here. I am doing some tests at my test airport and the results are not predicable. Hopefully Jim or Ray will be about soon. Maybe one of them can offer some guidance. In the meantime leave it with us and get on with some other aspects of the airport :)

OK Thanks mate.
I'm going to add another taxiway across from the the other one and down to 03 to see what happens.

Well I have added another taxiway across the runway and down to 03.
All that is fine and the centre line crosses the runway linking the 2 taxi ways.
HOWEVER NO curve at the 03 end either.

Richard

Richard,

Try the attached. I needed to remove your original start points which were referencing the wrong runways and connect the parking spots to the taxiway. However, the important thing is to have a node on the centre-line at about the same distance from the entry point as that of the hold-short node. If it is nearer or much further away, the centre-line is not drawn:

As I said earlier, it would be very unusual to have yellow lines painted on grass. Perhaps there may be a whitewashed line.

George

ps. It is always useful to use the fault-finder and also the list commands.

This is to confirm that the node George shows added to the runway link line is the correct fix.

I added runway 26 for picture purposes. Any time a taxiway is connect to the very ends of a runway the extra node (my yellow one) is needed so the taxi line will curve onto the runway and a fillet will be drawn.

The Eagle has Landed
One small step for man.........

OK guys the job is done.

May I make the following obsevations.
1.I have connected the parking spots as per George's instructions but the fault finder says "orphan parking" although aircraft load there ok.

2.I have added another taxiway but am getting a short length of grass as per the pix.
OK cannot attach a pix as exceeding limits.
Let me see if I can expalin.
I have continued the taxiway from the grass one across the runway [at 21] and continued down to 03. I have placed a node just off 21 B4 going parallel to the runway to 03.
The bit off grass is between the runway edge and the node.
The new taxiway I have designated asphalt.

3. I understand what George is saying re not having yellow lines on grass but there is no choice OR is there??

Richard

Yes, the aircraft will park at an orphan parking spot but will disappear on taxi-out (it has nowhere to go).

The fault-finder will highlight the offending parking spot, try dragging it and you will see that it is not connected.

re not having yellow lines on grass but there is no choice OR is there??

No centre-line :p

Re your other problem, a screenshot would help. Go to your profile and delete old uploads.

George

Sorry George it will not let me upload anything bigger than 100kb. My pix is 500kb.
I have deleted all old attachements.

Richard.

PS am going to check the parking now and will report.

If you select a falut in the list ADE will display the item concerned on the main display

OK I have sussed the parking problem.

I need now to be able to upload a pix.
I have deleted all old attachements but it will still not let me upload???

PS what shape are the parking spots supposed to be???

Have you got an image management program like Irfanview to make the shots smaller? In the meantime if you want to email it to me jon AT scruffyduck.co.uk I will post it.

Parking spots are circular :) When selected they get a little handle in the direction they are pointing. you can use this to rotate them
