• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I recently converted a SketchUp model using MCX. After conversion, I placed it in my scenery and the message below is what I get when trying to compile the scenery. Attached is the.MDL file with textures.

INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2014: Failed to load model data in file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\SAMM2\Models\FSX\lIMO\pLIMO.mdl
INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2149: Failed to load model data! Does the file exist?
INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2340: Failed to finalize MODEL_DATA!
INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2032: XML Parse Error! Element tree follows:

I think the model format may be too new for ADE:

Try exporting an FSX model from MCX.

George told you - export an FSX format model from ModelConverterX.

I have been trying to export the model to a FSX format model and I am still having erros. I followed the YouTube videos but once I open it in ADE I get an error message. Can you help me solve this issue?

I loaded this model into a P3D v5 project, placed and compiled it. There was no compiler error which suggests that this model is not suitable for FSX. ADE throws no errors when decompiling or adding the model or creating the footprint.

To be exact your model reports a mdlType of PV20 where FSX needs MDLX. It is a fault in ADE that it does not identify incompatible model types and this is the first time I can recall it being reported. I will add this to the work list.

Meantime I don't know if it is possible to change the model type to an earlier one - someone else will have to answer that

That is weird because the model is just imported from Sketchup. Could the problem arise from my own fault that I have the Lockheed Martin SDK? Thanks for your help.

To compile to FSX you will need to use the P3D v1.4 SDK, nothing later.

I downloaded that version but when I go to add the bgl to the library object folder, I get the message attached in the picture.
